In the words of Mike Tyson, tee-hee!!! Love the face on the CNN anchor when the field reporter refutes him with the mention of President Bush. I’ve seen kids who have had air let out of their balloons not look so hurt. I do believe it’s time for a SNICKERdoodle!!!
Suck that,asshole…pretty girl,by the way
Yeah, but it would have been nice to see someone mention the immense humanitarian good Bush did in Africa. Maybe that had something to do with the warm welcome?
Agreed, Rufus, but I dig her subtlety, too.
That’s okay. The clip from FOX news said he was doing terrorist fist bumps with the African natives. It must be a slow news day when this is all you got. A very subtle reaction from an (uniformed, and they are all uninformed just watch FOX news) anchor person who didn’t know that Bush received the same welcome. Sad, so sad. Keep chipping away. Obama will still be there in 2012.
However, I do commend Bush for being the one president that helped Africa the most, which is something not mentioned much because he had so many other stupid things that overshadowed this fact. Check out Georgie dancing and reaching between another man’s legs to beat his conga. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLYyMJ6XY6U
Barry, a few things:
1. Whatever our opinions of Obama are, this post has nothing to do with Obama, but a news anchor’s desperate and thinly veiled hero worship, that lead to an awkward silence.
2. You’re REALLY scraping the bottom of the barrel if all you can come up with is a Fox News reference that’s about five years out of date.
3. And then you double dip with a Bush reference that was stale coming out of his first term.
4. No president has a guaranteed second term. They’re called elections for a reason.
5. Several have passed since you last posed and this is the one you choose. Half the conversations on here have nothing to do with politics. Try chiming in a little more on those and having a conversation, instead in the douchbaggery of lame and childish political satire.
6. I could’ve torn you apart in this post and you know that. If you insist on hanging around and taking potshots, I will make you my hobby.
correction: several dozen posts have passed
Uniformed or uninformed, Barry, babes? Both? Inquiring minds and all wanna know…
Don’t worry about it,David. These little rats scurry into Threedonia every once in a while.Once they meet up with you or Father Ron or(gulp!)Stephanie, they skitter right out again.
Leftists claim that if you can ever housebreak them, trolls can make nice, subservient little pets and great gifts. They’re sorta a doglet like a poodle, but with an even more annoying, high pitched bark and incontinence problems.
Are they like those house elves from Harry Potter that have to hurt themselves if they tell the truth?
Quiz of the day: Who will probably be the first to help Obama’s Kenyan brother out of his poverty?
a. Obama
b. George W. Bush.
c. Bono and a CD full of self-aggrandizement.
Discuss.
I know I’m really late to this, but this is a hilarious comment!
Pope Benedict XVI. Now that President Obama means more to Catholics in the USA than even the Pontiff himself, the former Mr. Ratzenberger’s got to find some self-worth somewhere. Little known fact there, Normies…
Just another instance of separating the real Catholics from the CINOs. I am surrounded by Catholics who detest B.O. Oh, and the current POTUS as well!
Yep that was an awkward silence at the end. And of course her mention of W must have caused that dude’s gasket to burst. Of course W did do more for African Aids relief than any President, including Clinton but none of the leftists will be honest enough to admit it. Barry,so tell us this if you insist on carpet bombing us with your little notes of sillyness how is it to live a lie? I mean thats what you leftists do everyday? I always wondered what it was like to be completely deluded morning, noon and night. We’d or should I say I would like to know what its like to float through life so totally unaware of reality. Is this intentional or are you so jaded and buried underneath the garbage you’re “religion” is based on that you are not aware.
They must feel like they die inside every time they hear that GW has done more for Africa than any other president. Even with all their little pet projects and their faux love for how authentic people of color are and how they don their authentic African garb, all the left has done is give platitudes. Why now they can’t even remember making jokes about GW dancing. Even after he was corrected about Bush he had to put in there that it’s done for every visitor. I think these people wake up, put their fingers in their ears singing la,la,la all day until it’s time to watch Olbermann and then they sit their and nod at the screen.
Thanks Dave for the smack down. I agree that my response took on a jeering tone. In part, I felt that this site usually had more to offer than this, but really my point was for every CNN anchor showing thinly veiled adoration of Obama there is a FOX anchor showing thinly veiled contempt for Obama. I strongly believe that Obama will win the next election because the conservative republicans had their run. The country was left in shambles because they justified their misguided actions in the name of a greater purpose (making America how they thought it should be). Moderates jumped ship because the inability of the conservatives to understand/accept another viewpoint or reality other than their own. As Stephanie refers to leftists waking up deluded, I say conservatives better pull their head out of the sand to see the bigger picture. The world is changing and conservatives are delusional to think that they can stop it. If I want to know what the conservatives will say, I just have to look to what the progressives were saying five years ago.
Floyd said that this was a “nice” blog and people try not to be jerks. If I said the same rude things about conservatives that you say about liberals, your heads would explode. My reason for commenting is generally to make a point and not to carpet bomb, so I’ll try to stick to that in the future. Davey, I don’t always comment, because sometimes I might actually (gulp) agree with the original point being made. I usually differ when your douchbaggery statements get to be too much.
>>… The country was left in shambles…>>
Keep repeating that lie, BO. Really has a nice Goebbels-esque ring to it doesn’t it? Quite the contrary on making America how they thought it should be, too, unless of course you mean letting people keep more of their own money earned so they, not the government, can chart their own path. So unlike the social engineering programs the Dems love as well.
Speaking of which, how’s that Dem-driven 40+ year War on Poverty going? I know how much y’all love to throw around the words “exit strategy,” so figure maybe you, with all your community organizer experience would have a more credible solution than Teddy or Johnny or Hilly or any of the other Nazi Youth.
Not that facts or logic ever got in the way of any Modern Liberal’s penchant for self-delusion, though, right?
Eric,
It appears He’s stating his opinion honestly and in good faith of having a discussion. There’s no need to condescend.
Who’s being condescending? It appears in about every other of his sentences, David, so I’ll proceed accordingly. Can’t wait to see the honest answers.
80 years ago the progressives like Margaret Sanger were saying it was okay to reduce population through abortion and eliminate undesirable qualities in humans via eugenics.
they still say that.
what’s changing, again?
Thanks Dave for the smack down. I agree that my response took on a jeering tone. In part, I felt that this site usually had more to offer than this, but really my point was for every CNN anchor showing thinly veiled adoration of Obama there is a FOX anchor showing thinly veiled contempt for Obama.
Why default to the lowest common denominator? Speak up and call us out on it. Don’t become still more childish than that which you’re criticizing.
I strongly believe that Obama will win the next election because the conservative republicans had their run. The country was left in shambles because they justified their misguided actions in the name of a greater purpose (making America how they thought it should be).
See, now this is where we have to completely disagree. Conservatives might be the largest constituency, but Moderates have run the party for years and ran it into the ground, receiving a fair and deserved ass-kicking from the American people in ‘06 and ‘08 for abandoning the ‘94 Contract and breaking their promises. McCain was a moderate. Romney, who was the most likely pick behind McCain, was a moderate-turned-conservative (supposedly). Obama ran as moderate and you could barely tell McCain apart from him at times. Of course, there were also vast tactical mistakes on the part of disorganized GOP, whose had a badly managed ground game for years and foolishly dismantles its grassroots organization after every election, but that’s a different story.
Moderates jumped ship because the inability of the conservatives to understand/accept another viewpoint or reality other than their own.
Moderates–especially in the beltway–hold the more conservative grassroots in contempt. Reagan was not the pick for many in the party establishment, but he set a new course for what had been the party of Rockefeller. It’s been that way for years, with the two poles pulling at one another. When the party tacks left, it generally looses. When it goes right and sticks to its guns, it wins elections. We see this in the decades-long cycle of Dems and GOP switching positions in Congress and the Presidency. The Dems get in after the GOP gets too comfortable.
And if you want to talk about not understanding a differing viewpoint, try taking an honest look at things that make the front page of DailyKos, Democratic Underground, MoveOn, or other hotspots in the Leftosphere.
William F. Buckley is considered the father of the modern Conservative movement and his definition of Conservatism was, “It stands athwart history, yelling Stop, at a time when no one is inclined to do so, or to have much patience with those who so urge it.” Or to borrow another quote from C.S. Lewis, “We all want progress, but if you’re on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.”
You have to ask four questions of “progress”: Toward what? From what? To what end? For what reason? That is, I’m moving from A to B, hoping to get to Z, for a specific purpose. If we can’t answer those questions or the answers turn out to be unsatisfactory, I would submit to you that it isn’t real progress. For the conservative, progress means *conserving* that which is truly good, which gives us something to improve upon and direction for improvement, while soberly and with consideration giving deliberate reform to those things that truly need improvement. Shiny and new change is not to be embraced as being better because it’s new, as many things can change for the worse when we give up what good we have (look at the change that Nazism and Communism brought).
Now, consider if you were living in Germany in 1935 or Russia in 1916, in the midst of upheaval, and said, “The world is changing and you are delusional to think you can stop it.” The people who did try to stop those things we now consider heroes. But at the time, they were voices who were shouted down, while the world was enamored with bold strong-men of Fascism (Mussolini was the man who “made the trains run on time.”) and the central planning of Communism, not knowing the evils that would come from it.
Now, I don’t in any way compare Obama to those evil men, but he is a charismatic leader brought in on the tide of adulation, who is looking to “fundamentally change” the country and whose policies have the stale odor of Marx to them. There isn’t anything particularly new to what he wants to do. It just has the shiny new repackaging that seems to have dazzled everyone.
And Barry,
More than half the people on here are former Lefties. That should probably give you pause.
I gave up trying to debate people like Barry. It was just a total waste of time. Time better spent doing other things. So, Eric being condescending is dead on target. I figure if the idiot is going to treat me like I am stupid then well….I am going all out to make him look like the leftist brain dead fascist troll he or she is. Doodeedoodeedoo.
Wow, all of this from a simple post of a CNN host.
Stephanie has serious anger issues and she’s right – she won’t change my mind and I won’t change hers. The difference is that I’m trying to at least understand. You can call me derogatory names in hopes to win the emotional argument, but it only makes you look silly in the intellectual argument. Your hate speech makes you less or maybe even entirely ineffective. Eric’s points could be made without the looking-down-your-nose position. By being condescending it makes your arguments so much more blah. The government’s hand in your pocket from social engineering programs can be equaled by it’s military programs (like the War on Terror). I challenge you to go on a leftist, liberal, democratic (whatever you want to call it) website and try to have a discourse without being rude or condescending. I challenge you to listen to what they say with respect and to respond accordingly. Putting other people down doesn’t make your points more valid or their points less valid. It simply exposes insecurity. I try to offer up opinions to remind you that there are people out there who are making an effort, and by lumping them into categories, you miss the opportunity to make a convincing argument and maybe even change someone’s mind. It’s like when I debated a southern, Baptist minister on gay marriage (I’m obviously the one for it). I learned more from him taking the time to talk, rather than quoting me bible verses that I learned in my own upbringing.
I got more today from David’s careful, well-thought out response than anything else. Thank you. I agree with the first half. The second half still feels to me to be a stretch. The American political system allows for the minority to lawfully become the majority. Obama may be charismatic, but he can still be voted out. He can’t crush the opposition and suppress their ability to act (take for example the free exchange of ideas on websites like this one). The fact that this blog exists says that free speech is allowed to go on. I truly believe that fundamentally America could never be a socialist or communist society. You can claim that it can have characteristics of it, but it could not function as such. Not even liberal democrats would stand for it. Nobody wants the government’s hand in their pocket or boot heel on their neck. Marx studied capitalism to come up with his version of communism, so of course there will be some commonalities. But to claim the country is going that direction is alarmist and overreaching. It plays upon our fears as a country stemming back to the Cold War. Commie! Pinko! Fascist! used to be insults. Now the left laugh when you say these things. They are obsolete. You can bitch about big government, but you lose me at the fundamental change in America being a revamping of our basic political/economic structure. The current administration is trying to respond to the financial crises they were handed and implement their agenda. Whether it’s good or bad is left to be seen.
I say to continue to expose hypocrisy where you see it, but don’t act like a hypocrite while doing it by ignoring character, integrity and honor.
>>The government’s hand in your pocket from social engineering programs can be equaled by it’s [sic] military programs (like the War on Terror).>>
Please explain further. With admitted speed-bumps on the way to victory, the results from US military campaigns have been 100% effective when allowed. The same cannot be said of social engineering programs, notably a nearing bankruptcy Social Security and the aforementioned War on Poverty.
>>I challenge you to go on a leftist, liberal, democratic (whatever you want to call it) website and try to have a discourse without being rude or condescending.>>
Been there and tried it, Huffington and Kos amongst them. Never once met any discourse that didn’t end pretty quickly with name calling by the leftist, modern liberal, Democrat (whatever you want to call them). The best debates I’ve experienced strangely happen at ESPN.com and SI.com (and here of course
). Aside from the occasional racist comment (from presumably black racists intent on defending Jemele Hill or Scoop Jackson’s racism), well-reasoned people in the sports world.
>>I challenge you to listen to what they say with respect and to respond accordingly. Putting other people down doesn’t make your points more valid or their points less valid. It simply exposes insecurity.>>
If actually using facts, reason and logic to refute equates with insecurity, with some occasional smart-assery which I’ve been known to employ, I’m genuinely curious your view of the overly angry Kos Kids and HuffPo crowd.
BarryO, as I tend to ask of all folks of dissenting opinion, please stop with the dodging and obfuscation and simply answer my questions. Believe it or not, even though my patience is growing increasingly thinner, I truly miss the art of agreeing to disagree.
Eric,
Not to go on forever with this, I will attempt to answer your questions since you asked. Any time a politician (democrat or republican) makes a “War on (insert your concept here)” it is semantics for them to push their agenda. If you don’t agree with the end goal then so be it. Pointing out the incorrectness of a few trees does not define the forest. By saying military campaigns have had 100% victory is like me saying Social Security has had a 100% success rate right now. It needs to be revamped before it goes bankrupt, but it’s not bankrupt. Therefore, it has been a success for 70 years. And I argue either your parents or your grandparents may be using this benefit to help them live. The War on Poverty cut poverty levels in half and has held them relatively in place. Has it eliminated poverty? No. Neither will a War on Terror eliminate terrorism.
I strongly dislike far left extremists that get overly angry. You may pick up that I am a moderate. Anytime people shout over each other or dismiss others as blind/ignorant/stupid it doesn’t work. David pointed out the moderate factor in the republican party seems to hold more influence. Why have the conservatives not gone further in their designs to promote their agenda and have a presidential nomination? I argue that you can’t alienate people and still achieve your goal. Eric, when you belittle others while making your point (even when they have clear validity), they fall short of their full effectiveness. I find you have a wealth of knowledge, but get caught up in the tit-for-tat of trying to have the last word. In these tit-for-tat scenario, every point you make can be countered from the left with another point (sometimes on subject and sometimes off subject). Focus on your next rebuttal you don’t absorb what is being said. You pick and choose the points that support your opinion, but do you accept the points that prove your opinion wrong? And here I mean on a philosophical basis. If you can’t, then you marginalize yourself and your ability to persuade those outside of a smaller circle. This applies equally to the far left screaming heads spewing hate speech as well.
You lost me towards the end, BO, but I truly appreciate the reply. I don’t agree the War on Poverty has made things better overall, but will concede it has certain components that have at least given the people it’s geared toward opportunities.
Also agree to disagree on Social Security, for the fact it is legalized confiscation of one’s earnings, with a horrendous return on investment, barely keeping its recipients afloat financially. Highly recommend Dick McDonald’s http://www.RiseUpAmerica.us for a viable solution.
Glad we seem to see eye-to-eye on extremists on either end of the spectrum, too.
