Best Buy is in big trouble. Circuit City is in big trouble. Barack Obama is the President Elect and the Cubs went four and out. But you, Dear Threedonia.com readers already knew all of that. You knew all of that because I predicted each and every one of those things long before they were even on the radar screens of the MSM. Long before highly paid “pundits,” political/business/sports oracles paid for their supposed singular expertise in their areas, were discussing these matters. If you search the archives at DH’s Place you’ll find I informed Harry back in March that BHO would be our next President. That was when Harry (and most others) were predicting Hillary would be the Democratic nominee. And I never backed off that prediction.
And what did I tell you when everyone was talking about the Wall Street bail-out of banks and mortgage firms? Unemployment would spiral upwards, month after month, with luxury electronics and travel related industries among the first casualties. What else did I tell you? The mortgage crisis is nothing compared to the coming problems with the Big 3 U.S. auto manufacturers.
Just a reminder that you need to come here at least 5 – 10 times a day, every day. You are smart. You want to be informed. You want to know all there is to know about toast. You are Threedonia!

OK, I have a question. (Mostly bec. I’m lazy/tired/sick of looking stuff up.) Not really ready for the GENIUS sign, tho.
Didn’t Circuit City already do the bankruptcy thing?
And, no, I didn’t know about Best Buy. Got me there. They have beautiful ads, but when you in, the store is odd, so have not bought a lot there except computer equipment.
Yeah, the whole Circuit City situation caught me completely off gaurd, as I had not idea of trouble brewing until I saw they were abruptly closing the store down the street from me (they’re hawking stuff at 20% of, but it still so marked-up it ain’t worth it.)
Best Buy I actually worked for a little while back in an auxiliary sort of capacity, and just seeing how they managed internally I was certain they were doomed even before the economic downturn.
Of course, there has always been Wal-Mart and the internet pushing store like that towards the edge for a while now.
Linens & Things just went out of business, too. Did you warn me about that, I can’t remember.
Ruf baby – not to detract at all from your super genius status – but the Cubs actually went “three and out”. That’s III, not IV.
(As a loyal supporter of the mighty White Sox these details are very important to me).

trzupr,
3, 4, whatever it takes…
I too am a White Sox fan. Did you see the news item showing BHO dropping his kids off at their Chicago school after the election? Wearing a Sox cap, he was. I think we have our first White Sox supportin’ President in the White House!
Circuit City’s been having troubles in my neck of the woods for a while now. Didn’t know about Best Buy, but it doesn’t surprise me (and they kinda had it coming.)
Also, I have a friend who works in the Auto industry. Apparently, GM has about 30 days or so before they are completely out of money.
Didn’t see the pic Ruf. Gawd, if BHO shows up to the opener (attending which is a trzupr and daughter tradition) I am going to need so many extra beers.
Might you have been attending games at old Comiskey in the 70’s? Spent a great deal of my misbegotten teen years at the park myself. LEFT field bleachers, thank you very much. Because, as everyone knows, “RIGHT FIELD SUCKS!”
It’s, now, officially time to just LET THE BIG GUYS F A I L! Trim the deadwood (the bozos who didn’t see all this stuff coming) and let the next generation of brilliant entrepreneurs build a Phoenix from their ashes.
“…and that’s all I have to say about that.”
trzupr,
I also spent several misbegotten teen years at A LOT of the games at the old Comiskey in the 70’s in THE LEFT FIELD BLEACHERS! Very, very weird. Richie Zisk, Eric Solderholm, Larry Walker, Jorge Orta, Ralph Garr, Wilbur Wood and the inimitable Nancy Faust on the organ! And since I was in my early teens and it was Comiskey, I drank more than my fair share of frosty cold Falstaff’s in those very bleachers.
It’s a small World Wide Web after all!
Kenn,
I agree, but I just don’t see our politicians having the gutts, nor the brains. There are economic cycles, upticks and downticks. We started manipulating lending rates to try to lessen the valleys, that has apparently led to stimulus checks and bail-outs in an attempt to totally eliminate the valleys. Milton Friedman and John Maynard Keynes are spinning in their graves!
Agreed Rufus. We live in the real world – pols, definitely DO NOT. But real pain is a comin’ and there’s nothing the pols will be able to do about it, except make it worse.
Rufus! Underage drinking?! For shame.
Yeah, tipped a few illicit brews back myself. Those were the days.
Fun ex-Sox fact (which Rufus probably knows, but perhaps not a lot of others): the baseball technical adviser for “The Natural” was Ken “the Bandit” Berry, who climbed the fences to rob the opposition of home runs for many years at Comiskey.
At least he didn’t climb the backstop, like Jimmy Piersall.
Rufus, you should probably hold off on that “Super Genius” tag. Whenever Wile E. Coyote cut loose with that one he would get hit by an anvil, run over by a truck or some other horrific type fate.
Also you might watch out for anything marked or made by “Acme”.
