We often forget — many Boomers spent their blood and treasure fighting big government enemies in the Cold War. A lot of Boomers are navel-gazing nimrods of course, but most were Cold Warriors (at least they mostly voted that way).

1:17 – “I’m just going to discuss with you why AARP is advocating for healthcare reform.”
Then, two minutes later:
3:29 – “AARP is not endorsing the legislation.” Liar liar
pants on fire!
Some people are beginning to note that there has been an uptick in people leaving the US. Wanna bet it’s boomers taking their 401ks and departing for safer financial shores? I know my wife and I are thinking about it. And we vote Republican and we have supported this country and served in the military during Vietnam. However, we leave in Oregon and the Dems out here seem to think that my money is theirs and I’m a bastard for wanting to keep it after working a lifetime to get where I am.
We aren’t leaving because Dubya might bring Fascism to America…we’re thinking about leaving because the Democrats ARE bringing Fascism and statism to this wonderful country.
And if you think 2010 will be a chance to turn it back…think about ACORN with 5-10 billion dollars…

Kevin, we ARE seeing it turned back now. Every major legislative item the Dems wanted is failing and they don’t know what to do about it.
ACORN and the Obama-machine had a cult of personality to work with, going along with that $800 million war chest. In other words, it wasn’t the money; the Obama campaign kept burning through money and went broke several times during the campaign. It was the boots on the ground-ecstatic volunteers for the Obamessiah–that gave them the advantage. And yet with effort strenuous effort, the final tally was 53% to 46%. Now, Obama is doing everything he can to destroy his cult and he’s doing it rather well. He’s also created a groundswell of grassroots political activity that may end up dwarfing any effort ACORN and company can put forward. They certainly haven’t been able to do much on the health care front, where orchestrated “protests” and professional “activists” have been routinely outnumbered several times over. That may be a sneak preview for 2010.
I’m working with a group right now that is organizing a national grassroots network that is light years ahead of what anyone else is doing. The Left works through sheer weight of numbers. We’re working through precision and superior organization.
David,
I would like to believe it, but all they have to do is target districts that are marginally Republican and bring in the fraud votes, while maintaining the solid Dem districts. Look at the reports of the hired SEIU thugs at Democrat town halls. Also, the dropped charges against the Black Panther poll thugs. Do you think they won’t use these same thugs in the marginal Dem districts along with ACORN?
The Dems have come out of the closet on this. They are not going to go quietly. They don’t believe that the people should have any say in policy (even though almost every one of them knows almost nothing about what they’re voting on), and they hate when the people dare to talk back. Quite simply, I think they will do their worse to see that the next election is not a fair election.

Remember the dictum, “If it isn’t close, they can’t cheat.” At the way Dem poll numbers are dropping like rocks and with the opposition mounting every day–from across the political spectrum–the chances of them having a close vote diminishes steadily.

Of course they’ll do their worst, but we’re going to be at our best. The fact they are not resorting to open violence and villainizing are acts of desperation. The grassroots movement is swelling and the strength of our voice has grown so strong that the Dems haven’t been able to pass key legislation with veto-proof majorities in the House and Senate.
Think about that for second. They have what amounts control to total control of the legislative and executive branches, they have the media in their pocket, and the have the advantage of big money, yet they haven’t been able pass cap-n-trade or Obamacare. And not for lack of trying. With the huge amount of political capital they’ve had to expend during this period, they are now seeing support evaporating. Every possible thing they can do to lose in 2010 they are doing right now. It doesn’t guarantee us victory, but they sure are leveling the road for us right now.

One of the most interesting revelations in the health care debate is how contemptuous certain elements of our society are towards regular people. It was hinted at, and talked about, but now we see example after example, including the President himself.
Wow. Just “wow”.
Jeff, there has to be a certain level of contempt for regular people in order to be a true believer in Big Government. If you truly believe that a bunch of inexperienced bureaucrats in Washington can run everyday Americans’ everyday lives better than they can run their own, then you can’t have a whole lot of respect for said Americans.
Very true, and I’ve understood that on a theoretical level for a few years now. I’m just stunned by the personal rudeness and dismissal shown to everyday citizens in these videos. Seems more real now.
Good to know!
We could be looking at the start of a social upheaval similar to the 60s anti-war protests. It has some of that same feel of ripping at the social fabric.
And re: the video, is it ever a good idea to piss off old folks about political stuff? Mmmm, I don’t think so.
