A lot of that is that their first album was produced by Adrian Belew, wasn’t it? He’s pretty much the world’s greatest guitar player, having worked extensively with the Talking Heads, Bowie, Zappa, and a kerjillion others.
They used a lot more stringed instruments, such as the violin in Flood, and in the other songs as well…
Adrian Belew did produce Flood as well as Liquid, another great track from the album
I liked the Good MOnsters album and the follow-up to this one though its name escapes me at this very moment. I will say I think they helped contribute to a better lyrical content in a lot of CCM by not having to have the word “Jesus” in every song (an obvious overstatement but you know what I mean).

Great song from a classic album…their stuff is all great music, but none of what they’ve done since their first album compares.

I enjoy The Long Fall Back to Earth, their latest album more than Good Monsters and yes, Much Afraid was a great album as well.
