I had to start back to work for the Fall Semester today — full-time. I’m so tired from my break involving reading books and articles and writing — since May 2 — that I may not be able to make it. Feel free to commiserate below….

There’s way too much commiseratin’ going on around here already. Now get to work!
Poor wittle Floyd…he had to read books!
egad, fritz, I always smile when I see your picture. Even if Werner’s dad did tend to conduct too slowly.
Floyd, I know where you’re comin’ from. What with teaching summer courses and doing curriculum work for the upcoming school year, I got a total of two weeks off this summer, just like every other workin’ stiff. And I spent it painting the house with my son, while my wife and daughter went off to play with relatives in New England. On the upside, my boy and I got to watch wicked awesome movies every night. Everything from Seven Samurai to This Is Spinal Tap.
I went back into school yesterday to discuss teacher extra-curricular duties with the middle school deans (I’m the Recess Tsar, and yes, it actually says that in my contract).
This morning there were a half dozen school-related emails in my mailbox. Yuck. It feels like I’ve also started school again.
I start school in about a week.
Day one, I wanted to strangle five kids. Three of them are so mindless that you’d think they haven’t been born yet. I usually don’t have to get all Gordon Ramsay on them until they become used to school in the second week. I’d love to tell the blue team to go upstairs and nominate two kids for elimination.
justjack,
I’m quoting from memory, but in his book, “Without Feathers” Woody Allen does a brief history of Russia and states one of the revolutions came about when the populace found out the Tsar and the Czar were the same man.
