“A slice of whole wheat toast spread with a tablespoon of low fat peanut butter and an apple will do just fine.”
Advice like this, even though it highlights the greatness of toast, is why most weight loss advice is hogwash.

A slice, or two, of toasted whole wheat bread, spread with real butter, and, occasionally some honey or apple butter or strawberry preserves. That’s toast! They say that Elvis enjoyed fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches; but, that’s way too complicated for my tastes.
I’ve been doing personal training and strength and conditioning coaching for years now and some of the idiocy people are willing to subscribe to in order to lose a few pounds amazes me. My personal favorite of which is the Olestra fad. Olestra is that non-binding fat they put in potato chips for a while that essentially fires through you like a hot bullet. In fact Olestra went through people so fast they actually had a warning on the bag that said it might cause “anal leakage”. Any time I get to break “anal leakage” out before 10 I know it’s going to be a good day.
They got a low-fat peanut butter now?
Next thing you know, they’ll try and pull that with ice cream.
And -Mike!, beans. Don’t forget beans, which by the way need no help!
