Was This On The News?

Seriously I don’t know because (for those who don’t know) I am currently deployed and don’t get to see the regular news. I guess they were too busy posting pictures of a dying Marine’s last moments on earth to think about stuff like this.

I’m pretty sure I already know the answer…that’s why I’m posting this, because I think America needs to hear about what we do in their name.

FORT HOOD – It was a hellish year of fighting in Afghanistan’s Kunar Province.

The 1st Infantry Division’s 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, saw the toughest year of combat for any U.S. Army battalion since the 10th Mountain Division fought in the Italian Alps during World War II, its commander said.

Lt. Col. Brett Jenkinson brought his battalion – the Blue Spaders – together Thursday to recognize and honor those who stepped up during 12 months in Afghanistan and defined “hero.” Battalion soldiers who are getting treatment at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio also attended the ceremony.

The brigade returned to Fort Hood this summer and is preparing to relocate to Fort Knox, Ky.

Jenkinson and the brigade’s commander, Col. John Spiszer, handed out 254 Silver Stars, Bronze Star Medals with Valor, Army Commendation Medals with Valor and Purple Hearts Thursday morning and afternoon at Fort Hood’s Community Events Center.

What happened Thursday was historical, Jenkinson said…

Yep, but will it ever make it into a history book or class?

Miss Stairrett, the reporter, will most likely never reach the “heights” of the New York Times… she’s toiling away at a small-town rag and too busy interviewing her sources and getting numbers right. Are we sure she’s even a real reporter? Where are her anonymous sources recounting this unit’s atrocities or to tell us the uselessness of their mission?

Thanks for that Outlaw — local newspapers often get it right or get the stories the “national” media ignore.

Yep they had it on the news here. FOX had Sec. Def. Gate’s rant about it to. Disgusting isn’t it. I couldn’t comment anywhere on it because as a military wife I was too upset. There comes a point of overload and its like walk away before you beat someone so mercilessly there will be nothing left but a bloody wet spot on the asphalt.

  • Love you Stephanie. You said it better that I ever could. This is typical of left wing everything in our country now. Holy cow! Even the Soviets honored their military heroes. These useless idiots we have running things(into the ground) can’t get a single thing right(right being the keyword here).
