A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues.
Marcus Tullius Cicero, Oratio Pro Cnoeo Plancio (XXXIII)
20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
21For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
23and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Romans 1:20-23 (NAS) — St. Paul
Ingratitude is the greatest of evils and genuine thankfulness is the greatest of virtues. Think of all the injustices and evils in this world. They ultimately flow from ingratitude. Now reverse that and think of all the beauty and good and great things of this world. They stem from or inspire gratitude — thankfulness.
Whether or not you thank God… we all owe someone our humble thanks and gratitude… parent, spouse, soldier, etc. I hope y’all had a Happy Thanksgiving.
