Master of the Obvious, Deserts From The Army

Not only is this guy a grade A idiot and a deserter but he should be hauled out back behind the shed and have his ass beaten.

He deployed to Iraq between SEP 2004 and FEB 2005 (not a complete tour by the way), and then decides that he can’t take it any more in 2007?

From Yahoo News which in this case the name is strangely appropriate.

Army deserter seeks asylum in Germany over Iraq

FRANKFURT (Reuters) – A U.S. soldier who deserted his unit to avoid returning to Iraq has applied for asylum in Germany, saying the Iraq war was illegal and that he could not support the “heinous acts” taking place.

Andre Shepherd, 31, who served in Iraq between September 2004 and February 2005 as an Apache helicopter mechanic in the 412th Aviation Support Battalion, has been living in Germany since deserting last year.

“When I read and heard about people being ripped to shreds from machine guns or being blown to bits by the Hellfire missiles I began to feel ashamed about what I was doing,” Shepherd told a Frankfurt news conference Thursday.

“I could not in good conscience continue to serve.”

So let me get this straight Andre, it wasn’t till you read about people getting killed by Hellfire Missiles and 30mm cannon that you knew what an AH-64 Apache ATTACK helicopter was doing on the battlefield? I’m sure if you talked to your commander Andre, he could have squared you away about the Rules of Engagement and all the hoops those Apache crews need to jump through before they can engage a target. But I guess you are too sensitive a soul for the Army life Andre, and now because you shirk your responsibilities, because you decide to run out on that oath you took, someone else will go in your place. What a turd.
