“We started the takeoff roll and aborted. Then the two Arabs across from me went to the front of the plane. Then we were told by the captain is was a sick passenger. Now we are back at the gate and there are men with guns around me. “

Hijacked or in custody?
OK apparently the flight was actually a flight to Cairo, so the arab angle doesn’t surprise me. They are being very cagy about it. They mentioned it once on FOX.
Steph – Flight Tracker has UA 22 as LAX -> JFK, and it’s a 757. A 757 doesn’t have the range to fly to Cairo. Did Fox say Cairo? Doesn’t seem right.
Yep. It was stopping in New York and then onto Cairo. THe passengers according to FOX were Egyptians. Apparently, after the crew told passengers to take their seats one of the Egyptians (I don’t like Egyptians btw for a few reasons) got up to use the bathroom. Now one of facebookers Eric highlighted said both of them got up and went forward……………dunno. However the flight would stop at JFK, get refueled, and unload passengers and then finish its trip. I have actually taken that swing from LA to New York….same flight.
In custody…..I think.
Good thing the “unruly” passengers were ID’ed as Arab here. Now if we could only snag KTLA’s readers…
OK the flight was taken to a safe area. The passenger in question (Note I said passenger not passengers) is cooperating with authorities. The luggage of the rest of the people is being rescreened at the LAPD bomb unit. So basically whatever the guy did made people nervous enough that the flight was aborted and now trips are all screwed up.

Jet halted at LAX; two men are removed by police

A plane was stopped from taking off from Los Angeles International Airport, and two men on board were taken into custody, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
LAPD Lt. John Romero said the men, who appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent, were acting suspiciously.
A law enforcement source said at least one of the men ran into a restroom on the plane and appeared to hide while the New York-bound jet was taxiing on the runway, according to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the case was ongoing.
The flight crew confronted the two men and made the decision to stop the plane before it took off, the source said. The men were taken into custody by heavily armed law enforcement officials.
The plane has been taken to a remote area of the airport to be searched by a bomb squad, sources said.
The LAPD’s anti-terrorism unit and the FBI are on the case, but the source said it’s too early to tell whether terrorism played any role in the incident.
FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said that she was aware of only one person being detained for questioning after the person failed to comply with airline safety regulations and directions of the crew.
