Sadly, no Leone movies made this list. Westerns were clearly missing (I don’t think a single Western made the list) but there are a few goodies, including a spectacular U.K. poster for The Rocketeer (one of my favorite movies, which I’m not afraid to admit). I would strap two propane tanks to my back and grab a torch if it meant hooking up with an early-20s Jennifer Connelly.

No Westerns. Wierd. Tombstone should have been listed. And the Dietrich poster at the end wasn’t nearly as good as her poster from the Blonde Venus….talk about awesome 30′s art deco.
Meh, list like that are always about the author’s personal tastes. TO me that list was more about movies the author liked rather than a compelling graphics.
I personally don’t know how anyone could leave this…

off a list of great movie posters…but like I said it’s about personal tastes.
Casablanca should’ve been no. 1.
No ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST. That iconic image of Bronson shooting those guys.
Surprised Star Wars didn’t make it.

The only movie posters I ever had on my walls were for The Lord of the Rings and The Passion of the Christ (which both came out when I was in uni) and neither of those are on the list.
Then again, I put them up not because they were great art, but because I liked the movies. =P
Blade Runner. The Player. Brazil. The 1987 re-issue poster for Star Wars.

I must admit that it was fun to read the comments for each poster. I’ve never really thought about movie posters as art.
By the way, another good poster which didn’t make it is the one for The Goonies. Why they replaced it with cheesy “art” for the DVD, I do not know. This poster could have easily replaced one of several Tom-Cruise-in-close-up posters which made the list. (Seriously, it takes more than his famous mug to make an arresting image.)
