Why do boy bands, rappers (most anyway), and pop tarts live while musicians die? Perhaps the Jack Daniels bottle on the head stone tells the tale. Nevertheless… load up the iPod with some Townes Van Zandt.

Damn that’s great stuff. Almost makes me wanna take a swing of Jack again.
Good stuff, Floyd. I’ve got some of his music. Love it.
Floyd, are you going to bid me welcome, or are you going to ignore me like you usually do?
wilkommen
Danke!
What can you expect from someone who doesn’t like dogs? Dogs, old people, and probably kittens.
Love old people (I’m not a gerontophile — I respect old people), dogs and cats meh… If I had a dog I would love it and grow affectionate I’m sure. But why go there?
You know that I feel the same way right? I refuse to have a dog simply because I would grow very attached and then feel guilty that I’m not doing a good job taking care of it, I just don’t have the time or inclination in my life right now. Show me where dogs are counted as the same blessing as children and age/wisdom in the Bible, I’ll go get a dog.
I am very attached to my “old” people though. And try to take care of them, no matter how many kids I have.
I was not a dog or cat or pet person, then I married a woman who would have been a great, Mrs. Noah. I have to admit having pets around seems pretty good for our kids. I didn’t grow up in a home with pets, but I see it as a positive for our children. In other words, Mrs. Firefly was right and I was wrong.
It probably *can* be a positive, but I’ve learned that even too many positives can still just be too many. I really do love animals, but to say yes to what I’ve been given, I’ve had to say no to some other good stuff. I don’t mind and wouldn’t trade, it’s just what I have.
It’s also something I wish more people got. You can’t have it all, every yes is a no somewhere else.
Oh, I agree absolutely, Tracy. I wrote about this awhile back, but capacity is something many of us botch in our lives. I certainly have some weaknesses in thie area. In our family, at least, the pets have been a net minus regarding capacity. The kids and spouse take care of them and appear to derive pleasure from them and the pets worship me when I walk in the door, so I don’t throw them out on the street. But every family is different and even our family has a limit where too many pets will upset that balance. My only rule for the animal loving Mrs. Firefly is, “I don’t care how many or what kind of pets we have since you do a great job of caring for them, but my one rule is their life expectancy has to be equal, or less, than the number of years remaining until our youngest is 18.” In other words, once the kids are gone I don’t want any pets. Right now we’ve got to be around for the kids, but when they no longer need us every day I don’t want to have to base my questions for vacations and leisure time on caring for pets.
“Rufus and the Ark” doesn’t have that ring to it.
one of my favorites.
but I never heard it until I watched “In Bruges” and bought the soundtrack! lol
“In Bruges” was one, wacky movie!
Floyd’s not a gerontophile. He’s a gerontophobe!
Rufus here; and a gerbilphile.
Rufus, I wasn’t aware that you knew about such things! I am shocked.
