quisling: B. adj. (attrib.). That collaborates with an enemy; traitorous, disloyal.
Today’s example was blogged on by John FN Wayne yesterday... Dede Scozzafava, the former (moderate — read “liberal”) Republican candidate for the House seat in the 23rd District of New York. Facing an independent run from a conservative who was corralling endorsements from Palin, Thompson and many other GOP luminaries she “suspended” her campaign (read “quit”). Did she then take one for the team? No she crossed the line and started playing for the other team. That is a quisling. Obviously she’s not anywhere near the level of Major Vidkun Quisling, but his name applies whenever someone sells out their own side.
Newt is going to have to work hard to get his credibility back with me. Just because someone puts an “R” at the end of their name does not make them a Republican. We can’t afford to cast our votes “against” people anymore. We have to have candidates we can vote “for.”
It’s not A word, but two words…Blue Falcon works just as well to describe her.
This didn’t surprise me. I think with an uprising of independents you will see Dem and Republican politicians stick together and try to protect the parties. Honor among thieves I suppose. I’m equally curious as to rather the Republican Party here will come after me in the election in spite of the fact that I am very much a Conservative, albeit with Libertarian leanings.
Personally,Veruckt,I’m leaning towards the Keg Party…
You know Scott if I ran under the Keg Party I could carry the 18 to 25 demographic with no problem. Funny but true story, one of the people helping with my campaign used to be the head of the Williamson County GOP and he has been advising me on some campaign strategy and here is an actual piece of advise he gave me this weekend when we got together for breakfast. Drum roll please.
“Wear tight polo shirts.”
Yes, this is the advice I got. He said there are a lot of stay at home soccer moms and cougar types here in Brentwood and he thinks this would play well with their demographic. I told him I could just save time and show up in a police uniform carrying a boombox.

Reading Threedonia is totally boosting my vocabulary!
“Quisling” is a reference to Vidkun Abraham Lauritz Jonsson Quisling, who was the head of Norway’s Fascist party, and ran the country for a while under the German occupation. After the war he was tried and shot. One of those “happy” instances where a man’s name sounds precisely like his character.

Lars: Did “Quisling” enter only the English dictionary, or was it a Norwegian word first?
I think it was adopted by English-language writers first, but has entered several European languages. In Norway it mostly refers to the man himself.
