Pardon me while I become irrationally angry for a moment.

Holy freakin crap!!!!!!! The idiot ABC affiliate here isn’t showing V until midnight for the f***** Jeff Fisher show?!?!? Is this a joke?? How PO’d do you think ABC is that they will be losing an entire state on their biggest new show for 3 weeks to show “The Jeff Fisher and His Moustache Show”? Yes, it’s officially not coming on the alternate network now either, I’ll probably have to watch it online. I hate the Titans, they cause us to miss all the good games (such as Packers and Vikings this weekend) and now they’re causing us to miss premiers of new shows! AAAARRRRGGHH!!!

Scott is this happening to you in Memphis too?

Here is the official statement from WKRN’s website:

“On November 4, 11 and 18, ABC’s “V” will air on a delay at 12:05 a.m. to 1:05 a.m. on WKRN’s main channel 2.1. Channel 2.1 is also referred to as Channel 2 the primary channel for viewing WKRN. This channel can be received on all cable and satellite serves in the Middle Tennessee viewing area.
“V” will not air on the NashvilleWX Channel as previously advised. “

  • While happy he finally found humour in US music videos (thank you, David Lee Roth), Men at Work’s Colin Hay could not be reached for comment on this latest development from Australia.

  • Don’t worry, Veruckt: Soon it’ll be cancelled, and then we’ll all be able to not watch it with you at the same time.

Seriously, though, this is a troubled production. They’ve got about 9 episodes in the can, and evidently the network is running scared on it. They haven’t decided whether they’re going to resume production on the series until *AFTER* they get the November Sweeps numbers. Not an encouraging prospect. Also, they’ve had major script problems and legal battles, and evidently the suits all consider the first batch of scripts – the ones they’ve filmed – to be ‘subpar.’

It’s looking a lot like “Defying Gravity” and “Kings” to me: Dead before it even hits the air.

I can’t decide whether Botero finds the musicians adorable or can’t stand them. =S

In John Nolte’s latest post over at Big Hollywood he linked to one of his old Dirty Harry’s Place posts. It really brought me back, the conservative DVD library, Rich’s Movie News, Rufus vs. The Headlines…good times.

  • Obviously a product of too much inbreeding.

    Bot,

The early buzz on the show is fantastic so I’m not sure what they’d be concerned about. I’ve read 5 seperate reviews and all have been absolutely glowing, Eonline I believe gave it an 11 on a 1 to 10 scale. There are some really, really heavy anti-Obama messages in there that I’m very surprised about; such as the youth group (ie. Hitler Youth) the visitors assemble being called “Ambassadors of Hope”, the visitors promising Universal Health Coverage, and the priest fear that people are worshipping the visitors without really knowing anything about them and the heroes being a group of what can only be described as Right Wingers. Do you think this is what ABC is concerned about? Maybe they’re afraid of the administration targetting them like they have Fox?

  • It really could be, frankly. I’ve seen about 10 minutes of it, and it didn’t wow me like the opening of the original miniseries did in 1982, but the premise has always had a lot of promise. I’ve been getting a lot of conflicting reports about how it’s dead, how it’s alive, how it’s dead, how it’s alive, and some of the decisions surrounding the show seem to reflect this kind of uncertainty principle. They’re talking, for instance, about not giving it a regular slot, but rather just running 4 or 5 episodes at wildly space times during the year. Some have suggested this may be a case of trying to polish a turd – since they’ve only got 8 or 9 episodes at present, and if they do greenlight more, it’ll take a long time to get up to speed. Others are saying this is a ‘revolutionary new marketing strategy to maximize the impact of their assets’ by only running the show during sweeps, and not letting it languish away during the rest of the season.

I’m actually really interested to see, but, yes, it could be liberal flight that’s dooming it.

  • Last night I was listening (on the radio … you know, … like the old days) to the Phillies scratch out a win against the Yankees, and an ad came on selling a “World” (read: Left-wing activists disguised as United Nations climate “experts”) meeting in Copenhagen for a anti-Western Civilization, anti-free market agenda global warming climate change fear mongering conference.

The ad literally told listeners that these folks were coming together to “save the world,” and that Copenhagen was to be dubbed by these loons folks “Hopenhagen”.

Here’s a bit from the website linked above:
When the people lead, leaders follow The hope that in Copenhagen this December – during the United Nations Climate Change Conference – we can build a better future for our planet and a more sustainable way of life. It is the hope that we can create a global community that will lead our leaders into making the right decisions. The promise that by solving our environmental crisis, we can solve our economic crisis at the same time.”

Looking at the past, when the people lead and leaders follow, millions of inconvenient individuals disappear in death camps and gulags. But that’s another topic…

I wonder if Obama, who so busy pushing national health insurance, attacking Fox News, demonizing private business and playing golf that he can’t find the time to fly to Berlin to celebrate the anniversary of the destruction of the Berlin Wall, will open his schedule for a trip to “Hopenhagen” in December.

As heavily as ABC has marketed it I”d be shocked if they just suddenly tanked it entirely. Hopefully not I need a good sci-fi show.

    Daniel,

I’ve seen those commercials too and they always cause me to get the dry heaves. Since I’m tired and cranky today I’m not going to mince words or tone down my rhetoric so to speak but to me this is all more Communist propaganda no different than the fear mongering they did in the 50′s with fear of nuclear war and industry moving toward robotic automation. Leftist / Communist have gotten far more aggressive in their propaganda over the last several years as media has evolved into this giant unavoidable monster and unions (teacher’s unions in particular) have become very compliant in helping spread their message.

what do you think about Stargate Universe?

  • A bit searching the “internets” and I discovered that the creator of this “Hopenhagen” stupidity is … wait for it … the United Arab Emirates Chapter of the International Advertising Association.

So the part of the world that would be scratching out a subsistence existence were it not for Western Civilization providing it the technology and know-how to pull trillions of gallons of black gold from the ground is backing a conference intended to neuter Western Civilization.

    Why am I not surprised?

Maybe next the UN will have a conference on Western military technology co-sponsored by Russia and China.

  • I love SGU! It got off to a slow start, and it’s much more somber than its predecessors, but I think the franchise was ready for a change, and thus far I’m really enjoying the dark, smokey feel of the show. (As opposed to the giddy, happy, swashbucking feel of the first show, and the slightly-less-giddy “I’m doing my part to make the world fall apart” feel of Atlantis). I know a lot of people don’t care for it, but I’m really digging the change of pace, though there’s obviously some problems here and there. All our Republibot coverage of the series is available here if anyone wants to look at it http://www.republibot.com/category/tags/stargate-universe-0 I particularly like that they tackle a few things that have been Taboo in the SG franchise up until now: IE *Real* Relgion and *Real* Science.

  • Veruckt, we’ll see. There’s definitely been more BTS drama than is usual for this sort of thing, but sometimes, rarely, that works to the advantage of a show. And if that doesn’t work, there’s always LOST coming back in the spring…

    • Veruckt,

The Jeff Fisher Show preemption makes me wonder if the powers that be at WKRN just didn’t like the shows themes. So off to an hour when almost no one will see it. And if those who do want to see it go online, then they won’t be counted in the ratings.

BTW, please give a link to the WKRN blog post you quote above.

    Here you go Daniel.

Are you a fellow Tennessean along with Scott and I? These boards need more Tennesseans.

  • @ Daniel: When B5 was on TV, I was moving around the country a lot, and it drove me nuts when I’d move to a new city, trying to find the show. You could always tell when the local programming director was a Trekie, because they’d stick the show on at 3:10 AM on Tuesday, or something stupid like that, and move it around whenever new episodes would come out. (Now it’s on Wednesday at 4AM, now it’s on Friday mornings at 2:30 AM)

I actually ran in to this problem several times. Evidently Trekies are a timorous and squirrely lot who just can’t abide competiton. Or else (As was rumored) Paramount had bagmen wandering around the country, bribing/threatening the PDs to do just that.

Not directly related to V, of course, but your comment reminded me of it.

  • Kit

We need a mid-midterm election night open thread. :)

  • Kit

    Just finished watching V.

    Pretty Good.

  • Say, that was way better than I’d expected. Pitty they killed Wash, though. Also: Can Morena Baccarin ever play anything other than an evil villain with messianic delusions?

  • I just have to say I’m really tired of the Harry Reid BS ads. He’s spending a lot of money to convince us how great the miserable, slimy, bastard is. He “led” the fight to…blah, blah, blah
