So says Evan Thomas, Editor in Chief at Newsweek.
I cringe that he’s a Muslim. I mean, because it inflames all the fears. I think he’s probably just a nut case. But with that label attached to him, it will get the right wing going and it just — I mean these things are tragic, but that makes it much worse.
God forbid we get the right wing going about murders perpetrated by people of a certain religious sect. For the left, it doesn’t take so much as a murder, just a Ron Paul sticker, “Don’t Tread on Me” on a t-shirt, quoting the Constitution or going to a tea party. I think the government has even issued reports about this stuff. Just to keep your memory fresh, many pre-9/11 reports about possible terrorists taking flight training were deemed “racist.”
To say with a straight face, that the perp being a Muslim “makes this worse,” says a lot about Mr. Thomas’ humanity or lack there of. How can you make murder worse? With brazen political incorrectness.
No Mr. Thomas, what “inflames the fear” is jihadis slaughtering Americans. I would imagine Thomas would have a different perspective if a terrorist stormed the ivory tower at Obamaweek and killed 13 people there. But, since this was flyover country, and the victims were military, Mr. Thomas sniffs about a right-wing overreaction. What a useless bastard.
Mr. Thomas needs a nice one way trip to Afghanistan..
Great post … short but pointed. The lack of humanity on display here is stunning.
I stopped caring what Thomas said once I saw Newsweek. How low is their readership these days anyway?
C’mon, give Evie a break. At least he realizes on which side both he and Major Hasan are on, and how that someone going all free-lance Jihad can set back the Left’s transnationslist projects.
