You can see how the “WTF” thing would throw me off, particularly after people going on about how they don’t understand Yes videos and whatnot.

@ Rufus: I doubt I saw the “Dust” video until I was in my late 20s on VH1 Classic or something. That song came out in 1978, when I was 11, and long, long, long before MTV. And when there WAS an MTV, they certainly had no interest in playing morose oldies like that. So video never interfered with song for me, and as I said, I like the song.

So “Method of Modern Love” made you wonder about the band’s sexuality but “Dust in the Wind” didn’t peg your gaydar needle?

Nothing to “get,” R3. Just throwing out some tunes I like and don’t like, no real “WTF” moments. Apparently, too clever for my own good, and the alleged wise and mighty should have used “For Daniel” in the subject instead.

1901: Nothing to really get here, just a performance clip with some interesting lighting/editing.

Method of Modern Love: I remember when this song/album came out, and pretty much everyone in my highschool took this video as a confirmation that they were a gay couple. But, again, simple concept video on a deliberately minimalist set. If you get the “Ok Corral” episode of Star Trek, what’s not to get here?

Dust in the Wind: I always liked this song, but then I’ve always been kind of existential. Again, dunno what’s not to get here in the video, aside from the obvious fact that it was shot for about $11 and maybe some free beer thrown in.

If you like that first one then let me step out on a limb here and guess that you’re not epileptic.

The second one is in the genre of H&O that I don’t like very much, and I had never seen the video before, but I kinda got a kick out of the video. They certainly don’t appear to be taking themselves too seriously. Which brings us to the 3rd one:

I am not some people. I don’t like that song, and, I had made it thus far never having seen that video. My goodness, did that suck. Wow! The ’70′s prom ruffled tuxedo shirts, the long, perm-ed hair… Ouch!
