Are you dizzy yet? My head is spinning as the mainstream media works their magic. “Hasan acted alone!” is the triumphant conclusion – although I seem to recall that we were not supposed to jump to conclusions – but all that really meant was that we are not allowed to jump to uncomfortable conclusions.
According to the MSM, we can take solace in the fact that Major Hasan was not carrying an Al Queda ID on a lanyard around his neck. See! That proves that he is just another nut, acting on some crazy impulse or listening to voices inside of his head. Perhaps he was hopped up on too much fast food. Doesn’t really matter – he acted alone! Craziness in America as usual folks! We can move along now. We can concentrate on the important things, like the danger of fundamentalist Christians who, you know, oppose gay marriage and picket abortion clinics and stuff. Whack jobs!
If Hasan planned and executed mass murder on his own, which seems entirely probable from what we know, that’s not really the point is it? There is little to take comfort in from the conclusion that “Hasan acted alone!” The reason that he acted as he did is kind of the issue here.
When a perverse, evil ideology is allowed to infect American society, and when much of nation refuses to recognize that it exists, much less take the steps needed to eradicate it, then you open the door to Hasan acting “alone” and to John Muhammed acting “alone” and all of their successors, who will also act “alone”, in support of the common goal they share. Steyn says it far better than I can of course (he always does) but it continues to amaze that the media can so stubbornly avoid connecting dots that wouldn’t challenge a two year old armed with the nub of a crayon.

Thought Experiment Time
What if Hasan had been a Christian, proselytized to his patients about the saving power of Jesus, and shot a bunch of people while screaming “Jesus is Lord!!”? Would these same MSM talking heads be stressing the importance of not jumping to conclusions? Not a chance, and they certainly wouldn’t invent something as asinine as Pre-TSD to explain it.
I think you’re so right on the money with this line of thinking, Blackhawk. Replace the religion with a Christian and the result changes. But there is also another difference: if Hasan had been a Christian and had committed this heinous act, other Christians would immediately and loudly condemn his actions.
The thing that amazes me is that “he acted alone” is viewed as some sort of proof that it wasn’t terrorism in spite of the fact that for years Homeland Security has been warning us that they saw a “lone wolf” being a larger threat from a terrorism standpoint because they are harder to track due to a lack of chatter. Now the media is like “you can’t be a terrorist if you act alone. There has to be at least 5 people, like a boyband only with less singing and more violence.”
Can someone please explain to me what the benefit is to being in denial of this? I honestly do not understand.
The benefit is obvious, as long as you value diversity over lives.

Mr. Sideous, I agree with you that narrative trumps reality. A story is only reported within the framework of the narrative and any facts that lead elsewhere are left out. Only the facts that advance the narrative are reported. I can’t decide if this is due to a lack of curiosity, poor education of journalists or a desire to keep the narrative going and thus advance and agenda.
TCW, it’s the need for control. They construct a “reality” where the ideals of right/wrong are dictated, so the fundamentals of the society are within their control. They are never wrong, and manipulate the narrative to their liking.

Yesterday Rush found a story from Seattle about a lone gunman that was branded by law enforcement a a “home grown” domestic terrorist. If that guy can be a lone wolf terrorist, why can’t Hasan?
Could the denial be that the Administration and MSM really want to stay in denial that radical Islam is a threat? If a terrorist isn’t part of a group and is simply killing us because of his religion then would that not by proxy force the guvment to admit we are at war with Radical Islam?

We should understand as well that the incident at Fort Hood did feature an unprovoked assault on a Muslim male by one of the patriachy’s centurions. Serious questions need to be asked: did the police officer give Hasan an opportunity to express his concerns, to detail his history of suffering the taunts and gibes of Christian imperialists? Did she ask herself whether shooting the major would properly address the root causes of his problems? Or did she jump to conclusions, driven by bigotry and prejudice that created a narrative predetermining that a man of color waving a gun around and shouting Allah Ahkbar must be a threat?

I deeply regret my failure in that earlier post to address the humiliation inflicted upon Maj. Hasan by being taken down by a policewoman! OTOH, it DID yield early favorable coverage of the police actions by the NYTwits and Waposties. Just imagine how their reporting would have gone had the police hero been a 6’4″ 260 lb sheriff known as Bubba.
