I’m surprised we didn’t get the requisite post-modern apologia, something like “I’m sorry for all the tragedy that surrounded him.” I’m sorry we’re not hacking him up and dropping the leftovers across northern Pakistan.
The relative speed in execution is rather heartening and perhaps points to further expediting other ‘stressed individuals’ to their just rewards.

I was thinking the same thing. It’s Texas like speed. I’d rather see about 2-3 years as opposed to 8, but out here in CA, as you well know, we’d have another 20 years to go — if ever.
I was in DC when it was going on and I can safely say from that experience that yes, John Allen Mohammed was a terrorist. People ran to their cars at the Mall, wouldn’t stand by their cars while filling up. Heck walking down the street in Adams Morgan was a studying in terror. So, John Allen Mohammed, rot in hell, you bastard. I am glad you are dead.

One of my college professors was a consultant on this case and he was one of the first to suggest the sniper may be black. One of the notes left to police used the phrase “Mr. Policeman” which my professor felt indicated familiarity with inner city colloquialism.

Its funny but using a serial killer profile for a spree killer is silly. Aren’t these supposed to be two completely different events?
Good point, Steph. The way these killings were carried out made them completely unprecedented and very difficult to investigate.

To be fair, they were doing their job in following the profile. Because the fact is, 95% of serial killers fit the profile of white, middle-class adult males, and the best use of resources is to investigave those who fit it. I fit that profile to a T, and I’ve accepted that if (God forbid) there is ever a serial killer operating in my neighborhood, I wouldn’t be surprised if the cops show up at my door to ask me a few questions.
But I wouldn’t blame that on the cops or some imaginary prejudice, I would blame it on the serial killer, who is forcing them to do their jobs and investigate people who fit the profile. Because the important thing here isn’t making my whiny little ass feel “comfortable,” it’s saving lives.
But if they had profiled Blacks in that way there would have been hell to pay.
As a former trained sniper, I object to calling this bastard a sniper. He was merely a murderer with a rifle.
