Hard as it may be to believe, my editor over at The Examiner gets some letters in which readers complain about little old me? Me. Sweet-tempered, always respectful, mild-mannered me! This one is kind of precious, so I thought I’d share:
Dear Editor,
When I open up your newspaper to peruse through local sports, arts and civic news, why must I always be confronted with the radical right wing rant of Rich Trzupek?
Who is this guy, anyway? Is he the editor of the paper? Is his column on an editorial page? Im looking for local news, not propoganda or extremist views.
You might want to check your mission when you roll the presses next time with Mr. Trzupeks silly sarcastic style drying on the pages. Local issues? Local events? Dont really see much of that in your cheap seats.
Perhaps, Mr. Leighty, you as the actual editor might produce a real editorial page that includes the newspapers opinion on issues, with an appropriate balance of opposing views in other columns.
Trzupeks drivel would be better suited for talk radio or Fox News, where entertainment and political propoganda are the mission.
Give me a break from this guy. Someone keeps throwing him on my lawn every week and I have to pick up the trash.
Here’s the column that prompted that particular response, by the by. What’s not to love? People are so very TOUCHY these days…

My guess is Anita Dunn just wrote that letter because she is upset about being forced to resign.
Or, perhaps a member of CAIR. Keep it up! You’re definitely pissing off the right people.
For a lot of Americans today, there is only one real constitutional right, and that’s the right to live in their own world and never have to hear any ideas they don’t like.
Oh, how they hate speaking truth to power. Off to Diversity Camp with you!
Poor Rich, ruffled someone’s feathers again. Its amazing. After reading the column I have no idea what the indignant letter writer is so upset about. HUH?
I agree with the writer, Rich. You do belong on FOX News.
Yeah, nice job, Rich. You and your filthy propoganda [sic]!!!!!
Look at the good news: at least we now have a liberal on record as saying that politics should stay on the editorial page.
Rich is a big part of the reason I don’t subscribe to The Examiner. That and the fact that I don’t live anywhere near Chicago, but I mainly blame Rich’s right wing, extremist views.
Rich, thanks for not printing my name on my letter.
Trooper,
You are just another right-wing wackjob who likes Booshitler and the Cheyney-Haliburton mass murder machine.
So get your Polak behind on Faux News or Rush Limbaugh and join their black-hating, muslim-hating, and wife-beating chorus!
Besides, Mark Steyn said it better.
A well reasoned and cleverly argued piece on mainstream journalism’s reaction to a bit of domestic terrorism perpetrated by an Islamic Supremacist and the response by those a Leftist: “Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Shut uuuup!!!! Forget that Islamic inspired terrorism poopie-kaka, I want to know what who the Bears are playing this weekend.”
“what who” … indeed
When you get letters like that, you know you are doing something right.
