Face it, confronted with a charging moose, who would you rather guarding your back: Sarah Palin or Charles Pierce?

I’m self taught, which many of my critics over the years would find easy to believe. But I honed my craft – learned it and became a somewhat respectable journalist. As a writer and a reporter, I can hang with guys at metros who have been doing this for decades. I’ve had more than my share of young apples from the J-schools wander in, and once you try helping them with style, communicating or ways of learning information, they blank out on you – that’s actual work. They never showed that part in “All The President’s Men.” Many of these kids want to be Bill Simmons, because Simmons sits on his couch and has written the same column for the last decade. To be anything else takes effort, and balls. Try ripping a coach to the eyes of thousands of readers, then wandering into his locker room after a loss the same day. I’m not comparing this to actual blood, sweat and tears work, but lets just say, if your goal is to be a couch columnist, like most of today’s younger journalists, then you won’t find the real stuff much to your liking.

(Of course it wasn’t about Schilling’s blog, it was about his politics.)

In my alter-ego form of Loki, I wandered onto Pierce’s personal website and took advantage of his ‘contact me’ form to send the following:
