Talk shows on the radio are going nuts over the KSM debacle….Bush on trial…leftist dream come true.
if you were gonna combine beer and percocet you could have at least gone full out and obtained a good porter or IPA.
Agree. I’m not much of a Newcastle fan.
Screw them Floyd – I love me some Newcastle. Also: Samuel Smiths!
The Brits are as good at making beer as they are in all other areas of cuisine. Newcastle goes great with a nice organ meat pie and some boiled pudding.
My ex wife’s mom was very British. She made steak and kidney pie one day and said the trick to making it good was boiling the pi** out of the kidney. Sadly, she was very mistaken. The dinner tasted much like steak with urine gravy! Gotta love the Brits!
Sounds offal!
You are all wrong, Yuengling is where it’s at. I’ve been a teetotaler for about a year but Yuengling is the only beer that even has a chance of luring me back into the realms of the casual drinker
Yuengling’s not bad and I give them tremendous props for buying the old A-B/Inbev brewery in Tampa and keeping American workers employed.
I only discovered Yuengling because of that Tampa brewery. It is widely available in south Florida. If I return to Fort Myers after school I may actually face some temptation for the first time in several months.
Stay a teetotaler, blackhawk. No one like’s a “casual” drinker. They get in the way of us professionals every Mardi Gras and Halloween.
Yeah, I recently had my first Halloween as a teetotaler. Much better than all my other casual drinker Halloweens. Not one “Seriously, only TWO beers? Whats wrong with you?”
hey now….Samuel Smith makes good stuff! Taddy Porter is excellent!
it’s not an homage to a type of beer of course. It’s more of an impressionist work. I didn’t want a 6-pack just a large beer and they were out of Foster’s. I could’ve gotten the PBR tall boy.
Or a suitcase of Miller Lite, open and leaning against the side of the lay-Z-boy.
at least then we could praise you buying American! lol
OHH PBR……….ICK!
Genius falls down on his face…Bill Belechick(HA HA!)
Thats Belichoke…watching the Prisoner rightnow…dang…its good. Me likey Jim Caveziel..alot.
I have on good authority from “a man who knows things” that Harry Reid is going to be doing a lot of closed door meetings with blue dog democrats leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday in an effort to duck the news’ cycle. These meeting will go on mostly on weekends leading up to Christmas with a possible Christmas Eve vote, again to duck the news’ cycle, on the atrocious healthcare bill. The “man who knows things” is fully expecting this bill to come out of committee at near 3,000 pages and loaded with payoffs to moderate democrat districts in exchange for their vote. It’s all very shady.
Veruckt,
I am very concerned about that. I do not trust Harry Reid at all and he and Pelosi seem very determined to make this happen. This administration seems very conscious of the news cycle and I can definitely see them doing something to minimize the backlash. Congress learned that it’s not safe to come home on vacation with this legislation pending. I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to get it passed before the Holiday break.
Fred Barnes may be a little too optimistic but, it’s worth a read – http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/017/217ubzqm.asp?pg=1
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Unrelated to any of this, since we were talking about The Prisoner the other day, I thought some of you might be interested in looking at our reviews of the first two episodes of the remake http://www.republibot.com/content/episode-review-prisoner-remake-%E2%80%9Carrival%E2%80%9D-episode-1 and http://www.republibot.com/content/episode-review-prisoner-remake-%E2%80%9Cliving-harmony%E2%80%9D-episode-2
Looks like I’m not missing anything – “Prisoner”-wise. Looking forward to seeing the original on Blue Ray.
Dude…Charles Krauthammer just kicked Obama in the ass on Special Report…rhetorically speaking. He said everything Obama does is somehow designed to contribute to his narcissism. He even had a (completely intentional) slip of the tongue and referred to him as Baby Jesus. Awesome.
I love Krauthammer and not just because he sounds like a bad guy from Wolfenstein.
“meeting of the minds.”

Yeah. Right.
For Lars:
What’s Norwegian for “finders keepers?”
@ Kenn: You’re really not. In hunting around for information, I found out that the remake started in England like six years ago, then went horribly off the rails two years back: In August 2007, Richard Woolfe, head of Sky One (The British equivalent of “The Sci Fi Channel”), stated: “The Prisoner is not happening. It’s a very quintessentially British drama and there were too many creative differences trying to share it with an American partner. I didn’t want to be responsible for taking something that is quintessentially British and adapting it in a way that I didn’t feel was reflective of the way people would remember it and the way people would want it to be. So we called time on that.”
Wonder if they named Sky One after another ’60’s TV series.
Had a feling about this remake.
Oh, utterly pointless to remake it. It’s like drawing a hat on the Mona Lisa: at best it’s pointless and at worst it’s insulting.
A hat on the Mona Lisa?! That would be totally cool! Like a beret, or maybe one of those pillbox dealies.
