I don't know much about her. She delivered one hell of an awesome speech at the Republican Presidential Convention. I know she didn't write it, but her delivery was incredible. I like what I know of how she fiscally managed Alaska as governor and I agree with her stance on oil production for Alaska and the lower 48, but I know so much of what we hear about her is filtered by folks with strong opinions; good and bad.

Have you heard rumors that she and Todd may divorce? They seem to spend an awful lot of time apart. That's either a sign of a very healthy marriage or a very unhealthy one.

Typo

No, I don't sense any movement to fight for state rights. I think Todd and the kids are normal people you could find anywhere around here, yet I see Sarah as a liar, someone that tries to change events to be how she would like them to be instead of how they are. She uses people then then turns on them and blames anything that goes wrong on someone else. I never have voted for her, she was the least qualified of the candidates running for governor but she seemed like she would be okay until Troopergate, then it went downhill from there, she lost the respect of a huge number of people here, the ones that pay attention to politics.

Also, do you sense a movement in Alaska to fight for the state rights guaranteed in the Constitution? Do you think Alaskans will push back if the Federal government continues to expand?

Christine,

Is "Toad" a typo, or is that what you locals call him? What's your take on the Palins?

Thanks for the welcomes. I have lived in Alaska for years and tI am a big Iditarod fan and just wanted to correct the fact that Toad races snowmobiles not the dogsled race. They are both grueling races but I think it is much more impressive to do it with a dog team because man and dogs have to work together as a team. The snowmobile race is more a man and machine, still extremely cold and the miles are about the same and the snowmobile can breakdown anywhere. If I had to be out in the wilderness in Alaska in the winter, I would rather have the dog team, they don't breakdown, too many villagers have died when their snowmobiles break down far from home, they freeze to death before they can walk back, a dog team will return home even if really hungry.

Snow machines and snowmobiles are the same thing, when they were first brought to Alaska people called them by the brand names like Sno-Go or Ski Do then when there were more and more brands they just called them snow machines. I just forgot they were called snowmobiles everywhere else this morning when I was writing that post and called them by what we always refer to them as. Here we don't need to make snow often but then they do they just report that they are making snow.

When I was in Alaska, I was given to understand that "snow machine" was what they called snowmobiles up there. I laughed, because in Minnesota a snow machine is something ski resorts use to make snow. The Alaskans laughed because they don't need that sort of thing in Alaska.

Then, a shot rang out...
