Brigadoon Reloaded (And Stimulated!)

brigadoon5sml

Jack Fowler, over at NRO, has the story of the phantom 00 Congresional District in New Hampshire – you know, the District that received $194,537,372 in stimulus money and, as a result of this wise investment, created or saved 2,873.9 jobs?  In addition to the “00″ district, there is also the 1st and 2nd Districts, which have heretofore existed in our dimension, and the 4th, 6th and 27th districts, which have not. This is all according to Recovery.gov – “Recording your debt and your children’s debt since 2009!” If you don’t believe me, then look it up your own damn self.

Here’s the New Hampshire summary:

NH

Curious, I wondered if other new congressional districts have sprung up, Brigadoon-like, as a result of the stimulus. How about Alaska then? Used to be that Alaska had but a single congressional district.

But now…

Alaska

Five! Remarkable what this administration can accomplish, ain’t it? And if you are in need of six-tenths of a job, the brand new 2nd Alaskan Congressional District is the place to be!

But wait, it gets better.  It turns out that, under the new order, you don’t even have to be represented in Congress to have a Congressional District any more. Let’s look at the District of Columbia:

DC

Five districts for D.C. – amazing. Guess they can scrap all of those “taxation without representation” license plates. At this rate, there will be a congressman for every man, woman and child living in D.C.

But wait, it gets better, for territories get Congressional Districts too! American Samoa, for example:

Samoa

And the Northern Marianas Islands too:

Northern Marianas Islands

0.3 jobs in the 69th Congressional District?

I am not going to rise to the bait.

So, to summarize: you too can create your own Congressional District and cash in on some stimulus money. Try it! It’s fun!

But then that’s what happens when Dems decide that they’re going to operate a transparent government. It quickly becomes transparently obvious that the government is being run by idiots.

But I’ll bet you haven’t carried out the same assessment in all 57 states.

Rush was just talking about this. The administration officials that have commented thus far has blamed it on human error in filling out the recipient paper work. I mean, we’ve all been there right. A form asks what congressional district you live in and instead of looking it up you just make up a number. What’s the big deal? It’s only billions.

  • HAL was right, all this time -

“Well, I don’t think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before and it has always been due to human error.”

It clearly was human error…the humans who put this administration and this congress in power

Ignoring that this is all clearly Harvey the Rabbit type statistics the 99th Congressional District is creating jobs at more than $250,000 a piece??? What are these CEO jobs?

  • Have a feeling they’re good, ol’ fashioned “bust your kneecaps” union jobs.

where’s the money really going in those phantom districts is what I want to know.

What I find fascinating is that the bureaucrats who put this out had to have noticed that there were problems with this data. Yet they went ahead and dumped it out there. So do they no longer care to even keep up the appearance of doing a job, or do they have such contempt for us citizens that they think they can get away with anything. (And how has Journalist Jon Stewart Liebowietz reported this on his “news” show?)

Good news everyone! I just did the figures and using the guvment’s numbers of $250,000 per job we can get the 15.7 million known unemployed back to work for a mere. $3,925,000,000,000! What a bargain!!! How could we ever question the guvment’s efficiency?

How come that scene from 4 Weddings and a Funeral where they walk into the wedding reception in Scotland where they see a dance troupe dancing a traditional Highland Dance and Gareth says, “Its Brigadoon! It’s bloody Brigadoon!”, comes to mind?
