I just had a flash of a thought and before I entertain it longer I’ll float it….
Is it wrong to hope KSM is found not-guilty or that his case is dismissed on a technicality? That would expose the Obama/Holder charade for what it is and expose them as the unprincipled charlatans for what they are. I say that knowing KSM will not live long after such “victory”. No way is he going to be allowed to live.
One of those rare cases of when being wrong is oh-so-right, Floyd. Like Scott’s gallows pole-esque idea, too, before the head on a spike at Ground Zero suggestion floated ’round these parts recently.
I think a not guilty finding would be the worst case scenario for B.O. The MSM would blame it on torture. Most Americans would blame Barack. And, as we’re learning – what’s bad for Obama is good for the U.S.
A few thoughts, Floyd-
The technicality issue is a real one. Even the POTUS can’t make up new court rules, which is what they are doing.
If KSM is let go, he will lose the martyr factor.
In addition to exposing the charlatans, it will show even though they are attorneys they are really bad ones.
In addition to receiving American citizen rights, they will be allowed to review US intel, and pass it on to the various terrorist organisations. The US will be the biggest loser in all this. The claim is now, that secret information will remain secret, but you and I know that will not be possible.
It has been a poorly thought out plan, giving little regard to the security of the US and its citizens, and is a result of a small segment of special interest groups, which will never be satisfied regardless of what happens.
It’s just an incompetent thing to do, whether or not KSM is convicted. What happens to him will become a minor issue.
@G-MAN… I agree with all of that. It might be better for us if he is released on a pre-trial motion for violation of his Miranda rights or whatever.
I have never in my life seen as big a cluster Foxtrot as this will be. This will be almost as damaging to our long term security and is as damaging to American values as health care. The mockery this KSM affair makes of our notions of liberty, due process, 4th A. protections, discovery and equal protection is deeply distressing. The damage is incalculable if it goes forward. Pray to God some judge ends it if he/she can with a dismissal.
Shit. My “friend who knows things” has emailed me and told me it is pretty well 100% that they have the 60 votes. They paid $100 million for Landrieu’s vote, not sure what they paid for Lincoln’s. This is the “cloture vote” which will prevent a Republican fillibuster in the actual vote. If this gets through my “friend who knows things” says it will be all but impossible to stop since they’ll only need a sinple majority.
Soooo at the risk of melodrama we can’t allow this to happen. We simply can not lay back and not fight this by any means necessary. The first step will obviously have to be at the state level, start on your reps and hook up with your local branch of the Tea Party organizations. We need to exert pressure on our state governments to do two things:
1st. Have our state governments cite their rights under the 10th Amendment (30+ have done this already) and pass a “Vote of No Confidence” against the Federal Government.
2nd. After this is done have state governments lay a Constitutional challenge, again under the 10th amendment, against the legislation and refuse to comply with it. Virginia is stating they are going to do this.
The states have to dig in their heels here and not bend. I’d prefer not to think about steps beyond that.
Also if anyone has any friends who are attorneys round them up. There might be the chance of citizens forming a Constitutional challenge without the state government’s help.
Two ways I can already see it being argued. The obvious general Commerce Clause route and the fact that health insurance is not sold across state lines, but the federal government would be compelling people to buy it (depending on the general legislation), thus giving an even clearer violation.
Blanch the c-word Lincoln is voting yes for hcr cloture. I think I’d rather
be in jail than allow these commie rat basterds to tell me how to live
my life. Our country isscrewrd.
Some additional counter actions against the legislation that are all within legal bounds. Eric I’ll need to call on your connections with the Docs4PatientCare group. If we can get physicians to sign a pledge to refuse to accept the “Public Option” we can use the private sector to eliminate this abomination. Also getting doctors to refuse Medicare assignment (this means not accepting Medicare and Medicare rates) then the bill would become a lame duck.
I’m still diligently working on an alternate plan to fix the healthcare crisis and will probably recruit David to help me on it. Once complete I will start working on getting approval from physicians and get them to basically “sign on” to it. Once a large amount of physician signatures have been obtained we can start pushing it on our reps.
By the way Stephanie if we can get it tied up in court I believe we can prevent it from being implemented.
I’m happy to offer any video help you might need. Very good at making commercials that take down the competition (with a little humor.) Just click on my name, if you’re interested.
McCain has his moments. I can’t help but like the fire in his belly. Yeah, I can’t defend his liberal tendencies. He is not a conservative. There’s no excuse for that. I know he can be a real jerk but I can’t help but like the guy. When he’s got your back he’s golden…when he’s against you, you’ve got a powerful opponent. Too bad he’s not dependable.
Kenn – I’m with you on no cable/satellite. Just can’t afford the extra expense right now. I’m sure some of it will pop on on the internet. Mostly I don’t feel like I’m missing much except for football and TCM. I miss my evenings with Robert Osborne.
decisions….my head’s gonna explode.

Yes. Although a real possibility, that is wrong.

Definitely preferred Cronenberg’s “Dead Zone” to this film. Probably one of the better films he’s done.
I think that most people now see BO for the dirty fraud that he is,Floyd…as for KSM,I would love to see him swinging from a lower Manhattan lamp post

Even if it is not a cluster that does not alter the fact that Holder screwed the pooch on this decision.
OSU vs. Michigan!!!!!
Go Buckeyes!!!!!!
God do I hate saying this, but go Wolvernines (who are teasing me something fierce right now)!!!!
What does everyone think of the Senate today?
“There has never been a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.”
Vulgarian that I am, ’bout the first 10-15 seconds, Kit.
I’m optimistically pessimistic.

1. We go with the state strategy you outlined.
2. We make a challenge before the Supreme Court.
3. We plan on repealing this monster.
4. We amend the Constitution to make sure no one ever misunderstands the Commerce Clause, ever again.
If we can tie it up in SCOTUS they can’t begin implementing it can they?
Floyd you have been called..you are the lawyer..wanna argue the unconstitutionality of this piece of poo in front of Scalia and company?
Also, we can begin pushing GOP Senators and Reps to pledge to repeal this monster.

Me too, Stephanie. I am willing be in prison for the fine for not buying insurance. I’m not kidding.

Veruckt, thank you. Wish I could help but know that you have my respect. For what it’s worth, you have my moral support. Keep fighting!
Veruckt,

KC
FOX has debate on. McCain is on fire.
Woops, click on my name to see my work.
Double woops, meant to reply to Veruckt.
Wish I had cable to catch McCain.
I couldn’t hear what Mac was saying but he was beyond pissed off. It was rather awesome to see him so animated.

Yeah, I’m sure I’m missing things – and my wife is missing her NASCAR. But, hey, we actually get to talk with one another – imagine that!
Gee, if there were any more Patrick McGoohan vehicles floating around on this website, the place would have to be a Lotus dealership…
