Good skit. Very good set-up, with both leaders speaking in their native tongues and the translator. They could have made a lot more hay with the translator; this scenario is rife with opportunity, but it seems like they wanted to keep the bit short and on point. The point being the U.S. owes China a lot of money. I don’t watch the show, and so I don’t know if the guy doing Obama is any good in other stuff, but his Obama is not good. It used to be awful, but at least now he’s doing a semblance of the President’s cadence. President Obama is very easy to impersonate yet this guy does one of the worst impersonations imaginable.

All in all a good effort.

Can’t wait for the CNN fact check on this one. I can hear Wolfy boy saying, “There’s no way the Chinese President would actually grab his ankles in such a situation.”

I thought it was quite deserved, and on target, but I recently watched some of Phil Hartman’s old Clinton stuff. Easy to say, this pales in comparison. At least SNL Obama is trying to get down some of his mannerisms and making an effort this time.

As with most SNL sketches these days, about 2-3 minutes too long, but yeah, pretty damn funny. Nice nod to Pulp Fiction, too.
