While I suppose we could have seen the choice of The Who as the 2010 Super Bowl halftime entertainment coming for miles and miles and miles, can’t help but think the Foo Fighters, probably the most popular (and across the board accessible) rock band of the next generation, can’t be too far down the producers’ list, stat. Would I be jinxing things if I mention Tina Turner might be available?
The NFL announced the longtime rock band known for classic hits such as “Pinball Wizard” and “Baba O’Riley” will play Feb. 7 at Dolphin Stadium in Miami.

Never got “The Who.” Never. I can understand the appeal of just about any kind of music you throw at me. I get the Beatles, I get the Stones, both of ‘em are a bit to straightforward for me to really bond with ‘em, but I get why people like ‘em. I get why people liked Nirvana, hell, I can even undersand why people like Disco and Rap, though neither of ‘em are my bag, but I have never even come close to understanding why people – a lot of ‘em, evidently – like The Who. There’s just nothing there for me.
BLASPHEMER!!!
Who are you?
“I haven’t been in a crowd like that since I went to see The Who.”
Weird Al Yankovic, “Another One Rides the Bus”
This won’t be bad. Wayyy better than Bruce. Hubby likes the Who. I liked some of their stuff. Rebel is a great song. It could be worse guys…wayy worse.
Yeah, we could have another wardrobe malfunction. ‘sides, their tunes are kinda catchy on the CSIs.
Well I was looking for a Foo Fighter Who cover and I came across this… Eric for you and Brooke.
Neil who?
They could have asked Timberlake back for crying out loud. GUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
BS staged Janet moment aside, Justin Timberlake is a helluva performer.
Ick..kiddy music. Me for old time hard core rock n roll…break the furniture and all the rest and leave a mark when your done
Fair enough, but these ears love decent pop music when my ears aren’t bleeding. Timberlake also gained a lifetime respect card from me when the Tennessee native JT gave proper respect to Johnny Cash when whatever video of his won over “Hurt.”
Thats all well and good but when I think Metrosexual I think Justin Timberlake.
Have you seen Black Snake Moan? Sure, he’ll never be Gerard Butler, but might change your mind a little.
Why would I wanna see that ?
Don’t like The Who, but think Justin Timberlake is a “helluva performer?” Who the f*** are you?
I gotta say Timberlake is a pretty good performer too. He’s not The Who, but he’s hilarious on SNL, sings, plays piano, etc. He’s not a rapper or Britney Spears type.
So you guys are all paleontologists, are you?
Personally,I wish they would get rid of these goofy lip syncing half time shows and have a Battle of the Bands between 2 great black colleges, say Florida A&M and Jackson State…you talk about showmanship!
Scott… now THAT’s a halftime show.
Agreed. It would truly be unprecedented!!!
I love The Who and think they’ll do great (not that I’m much for the “half time show” to begin with, I prefer college mainly because it’s more about the football and less about the BS). As for the complainers, Springsteen’s on-stage colonoscopy screaming aside, the half time shows have been much better since t*t-gate. No more MTV, retard pop acts, hip hop poseurs and shock value “edginess” disguised as competent performance.
Is adam lambert performing this year?
He’ll be performing with Buccaneer Bruth in Tampa Bay. Freddie Mercury must be rolling over (hmmm…. maybe not the best imagery) in his grave.
