A Graduation Speech

This speech is 12:10 long…and is worth every second. You owe it to yourself to watch the speech given by LTC Randolph White at the graduation from Basic Combat Training by America’s newest Infantrymen.

It’s a little old (circa 2006) but it’s still relevant and true…every single word.

  • Behind the scenes, we – your humble hosts – have discussed the phenomena that some of Outlaw’s most inspiring posts are the least commented upon. Not the least viewed, mind you, but they don’t always draw a plethora of comments. The reason, we suspect, is that some of the stuff Outlaw shares leave people speechless. This would be exhibit 1A to make that particular case.

Listening to LTC White, one is overwhelmed by so many emotions. It’s impossible to sort them all out. There’s so much…

We are so privileged to be served by men and women like these.

It is a crime – and it is cowardly – to criticize them or to give them anything but our full, unqualified support.

One would willingly follow a man like LTC White against the gates of hell. (And one would emerge victorious).

Every American should hear these words. (This goes treble for the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW). Politically incorrect? Damn straight. Honest? Truthful? Inspiring? Vital? All of the above.

We are blessed. Too many Americans don’t understand that. But, we are truly blessed.

That is an amazing speech. Loved to see him ripping on the anti-American crowd, I always wonder how hard it is for our military to deal with the constant attacks from their own countrymen (ie. liberals).

  • I’m going to try to remember this:

“The latte-biscotti crowd are background chatterers who, in the pits of their fickle, cowardly hearts, envy the American soldier.”

    That’s fantastic.

Unfortunately, I wish that were true, but I doubt it. I really think many, or most, really, truly believe they are better. I have had many arguments with seemingly intelligent people bemoaning the fact that “these poor kids (they’re always children!) come from impoverished, rural towns and the military is their only option.” It’s similar to the comments I hear about us Christians, following our magic, skyfairy. We’re all ignorant and scared of death, so we cling to absurd beliefs about Jewish carpenters, and mangers.

I really do believe they think they are smarter. Of course the speaker is correct about their hearts being fickle and cowardly.

      • Without putting words in the LTC’s mouth, I would say that deep down inside those people who bemoan the fate of those “kids” know that they are cowards. They know that when push comes to shove they would more likely wet their pants than stand up to the wolf growling at their door.

Those “kids” are their betters, and while they may never admit it, deep down inside they know it… guaranteed.

Trzupr, you’re right about Outlaw’s posts often leaving me speechless. My spouse can tell you that doesn’t happen often.

LTC White is what we need so badly – a leader.
