He would’ve been 94 today (Frank, not Matt). In honor of this, list your favorite Sinatra things…songs, films, memories, general associations…
5. Somethin’ Stupid (w/Nancy): I loved it when I was a kid, and later (when I was old enough to get it) I listened closely & thought, God, this is so true.
4. One for My Baby (And One More for the Road): My favorite of his “smoky bar” songs.
3. Mr. Big/Sex & The City: When Carrie asks him if he cried (after their first break-up), he replies, “No. But I listened to a lot of Sinatra,” and she gets it right away. So do we = it’s the international signifier of heartache.
2. In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning: This one always scrapes at something in me.
1. Well, Did You Evah! (w/Bing): They duet on this Cole Porter in High Society. It’s like the Hallelujah Chorus of Movie Musical Moments — I always stand for it.

5. Happy Holidays With Bing and Frank (1957): This is a Christmas classic that was unearthed in 2003. It was a rare color TV special where Bing drops over to Frank’s bachelor pad to exchange gifts and witty banter, and sing Christmas carols.
4. Pal Joey (1957): The ultimate Frank movie that showcases his gifts for comedy, drama, and The Voice.
3. Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely (1958): This would be the album that Mr. Big was listening to. The ultimate break-up album.
2. A Man and His Music (1965): The best out of all the Sinatra TV concert shows. Latecomers to this slice of TV history will have to fork up $125 to by this DVD.
1. Seeing Frank live in 1986 with Don Rickles opening up for him. Priceless.
Merry Frankmas everybody!!!
Frank Sinatra is sort of ‘new’ to me, someone who appeals to more mature tastes, perhaps? Not that I’m a grown-up but I’m as close to it as I’ll ever be at this point. Sure, I’ve always like Dino and Sammy but Frank is new to me.
I still can’t believe he married Mia Farrow. Mia Farrow???
“The Wee Small Hours of the Morning” is an incredible song.
I hate musicals, I hate pretty much every song on here, I hate Cole Porter, but *damn* “Did you evah’” is a great song. “Lee Press-On and the Nails” do a great cover of it.
thanks for sharing, Bot.

I like Saturday Night Is the Loneliest Night.
My favourite Frank moment is his cameo in Around the World in 80 Days! =D
The inspiration for not one but two memorable impersonations on the formerly hilarious SNL.
Lets see
1: The Way You Look Tonight
2: One for My Baby (Good one Wanks)
3: Without You
4: Thats Life
5: I’ll Be Seeing You.
I still have a Video copy of Phillip Casnoff as Frank in the mini series bio. That also had a great sound track. Included Der Bingle and Billy Holiday.
Ohh and good call on the Mr. Big/Carrie reference to. My favorite quote of Big’s is when he gives her a ride home after seeing her the second time that day in a club:
Carrie: “Have you ever been in love?”
Big: “Absof*ckinglutly.” And that look in his eyes….dang.
1. Live From the Sands (1966?) — especially his version of The Shadow of Your Smile
2. The Manchurian Candidate
3. On the Town
4. Phil Hartman as Frank Sinatra hosting a talk show calling Jan Hooks (as Sinead O’Connor) “
ShineheadSkinhead O’Connor” and telling Sting (as Billy Idol)… “I got chunks of guys bigger than you in my stool!” and just hating Steve and Edie.5. From Here to Eternity
I love the SNL sketch showing a “Deleted Scene” from Ocean’s Eleven, with Frank and Sammy in a hot tub, making increasingly disturbing comments to each other.
“I got some coo-coo thoughts runnin’ round my head, like I’d like to slap a dress on you and show you a night on the town”
One of my favorite Sinatra anecdotes that you can’t get anywhere else other than RadioF3D, is in the interview with Tom Dreesen. It helps to know who Jilly Rizzo is, but if you don’t, you’ll still appreciate it.
