The Coen Brothers are remaking True Grit.
It gets worse. Much worse.
Variety has just announced that Matt Damon and Josh Brolin are in talks to join Jeff Bridges in the Coens’ remake.
Bridges will play Rooster Cogburn, while Damon is in talks to play La Boeuf, the Texas Ranger who pairs up with Cogburn and Mattie.
Cinematical, in an effort to become the bleeding hemorrhoid of the internet film community, calls the casting superior to the original.
In the words of Damon, let the “people speak.”

Who’s going to be Mattie Ross,Kim Kardashian?
Hollywood and its remakes. It’s the entertainment equivalent of birds flying into a plate glass window, over and over again. “This time I’ll get through! I’ve got it figured out now!”
Next a remake of “The Good The Bad and The Ugly” starring Leonardo DiCaprio!
Sorry for any spelling errors. I’m having trouble seeing on account of the blood spraying from both of my eyes.
Remaking “True Grit?” That’d be like remaking “Psycho!” Oh, wait…
In the discussion on a post above about heroism, I was reminded of “True Grit.” What a great story of heroism. At first Maddie despises Rooster Cogburn. He’s old, he’s fat, he’s a drunk, he bends the rules. But when it comes down to life and death, he’s the man who’s there for her, to move heaven and earth to save her life. That’s what heroism is about. Heroism is a different thing from perfection. The hero has warts, but when he must he pays the price and does the job. Heroes have to be measured while standing on tiptoe.
I think I may just have to stop watching movies entirely.
And who’s gonna be Ned Pepper? Clay Aitkin?
Okay, this movie (I guess you could call it a remake) could drag me into the theater: http://thehdroom.com/news/See_Ridley_Scotts_Robin_Hood_Trailer_with_HD_Links/6078
I can see me seeing that. Definitely.
What???? Yet another Hollywood-shlock-banality-ridden-piece o’crap I won’t see. Where does it end?
Everything I read is ticking me off today. Must get coffee and leave it all behind me for a while.
There’s a special place in HELL reserved for these idiots.
