Pelosi in Copenhagen. The surreal moment comes at 1:00
They’re talking about cap and trade (Waxman Markey) which the Speaker of the House is confident will get through the Senate, apparently because she’s met with Ministers of the European Union. Uh-huh. I’m no Floyd (and I thank God for that every day), but last time I checked the Minsters of the European Union weren’t allowed to vote in the US Senate – as much as they’d love the opportunity to set us straight.
Oh, and Copenhagen is about jobs now? Really? I thought it was about saving the planet. How quickly the worm turns after you’ve had your ass handed to you by the Premier of the Peoples Republic of China.
News flash Madam Speaker: Waxman-Markey ain’t gettin through the Senate. Not in 2010. Not in 2011. Not anytime. You may have noticed that 2010 is an election year and not even your parties coal-state Senators are going to be stupid enough to vote for a bill that will absolutely devastate an economy that is already on life support – particularly when the Chinese will happily suck up all of the manufacturing that we would lose and pump out even more evil greenhouse gases. Forty four Dems, primarily from coal states, voted against Waxman-Markey in the House. It’ll just take one like-minded coal state Senator to shoot down this monstrosity, and I’m not thinking that it will be hard to find one.
My summary of the latest Climate Change Circle-Jerk: It started out as Jokenhagen, which Obama tried to turn into Hopenhagen, but he ended up with Nopenhagen.
Sure, industrialized nation have to pay a $30 billion bribe to the third world, which I’m SURE will be used to fight “climate change” and won’t go to pay for new Beemers and palaces and hookers for President For Life So and So (insert eye roll here), but our share of that $30 billion – when it comes to the kind of spending that defines Obamanomics – is chump change. Or perhaps more accurately, change for some chumps.
Lord Monckton had a brilliantly contemptuous summation of Copenhagen at his blog yesterday. My own brilliantly contemptuous summation will hit Front Page tomorrow.
