“The System Worked”

Figure out the connection and Floyd will send you a cookie

Insofar as it was able to alert everyone – INSTANTLY! – about how badly it had failed, that’s how it worked. That seems to sum up the views of DHS Secretary Janet “Don’t Call Me Reno” Napolitano. Yesterday, she famously said that “the system worked” after the near Christmas Day disaster on the Northwest Airlines flight about to land at Detroit Metro.

Apparently anyone who criticized that little gem took her remarks “out of context”. What she meant, she explained today – and you’ll note that she does indeed say this in the first interview – was that the part of the system that alerts other airline captains that they might be in danger, as well as the part of the system that is designed to respond to disaster – oh and the part of the system that tries to figure out ways to correct the system after the system is demonstrated to be screwed up – well, THAT’S what worked!

Because, you know, that’s what the Department of Homeland Security is all about. Waiting for a catastrophe and then responding like the robot in Lost in Space. DANGER! DANGER! MISUNDERSTOOD PEOPLE WHO HATE AMERICA WITH UNDERSTANDABLE JUSTIFICATION ARE IN THE AREA! DANGER! DANGER! All that preventing terrorism (or whatever the Obama administration is calling lunatics trying to blow up airliners these days) is so George W. Bush.

So rest easy America. Janet Napolitano is on the job, tirelessly working to stop terrorists in their tracks cover her ass.
