Single Arab Male, looking for good time, with a party in his pants

Instapundit had this bit from the Washington Post that is too good not to share.

The 23-year-old Nigerian man accused of the attempted Christmas Day bombing of an American airliner apparently turned to the Internet for counseling and companionship, writing in an online forum that he was “lonely” and had “never found a true Muslim friend.”

Made me think of this:

How many times, post-slaughter, have we heard the words “lonley,” or “sad” from some brute describing his own emotional state. Always on the prowl, some armchair psychologist or behaviorist will attempt to rationalize his behavior with his feelings toward society. Sometimes that’s serves as enough motivation for an already crazed psychopath to start pumping lead in the air or packing his Underroos with explosives. Glenn Reynolds sums up the Undie-Bomber more correctly:

Loser.

  • Excuses, excuses. Any excuse to deny personal responsibility.

We all feel lonely at times, but so what? When I first moved to Seattle five years ago, I was single, away from my family and had almost no friends within driving distance. I felt alone and miserable on an almost daily basis, for quite a while, before I met my wife. But guess what, I didn’t try to blow up any airplanes. There are probably millions, if not billions of people on the Earth who feel lonely at any given time, but they don’t try to blow up any airplanes either.

  • Advice to lonely people, from a lonely guy: If you feel you must end your misery, point the gun at YOURSELF. Not at other people. If you want my opinion, it’s better to be alive and learn to live with loneliness, but even being dead is better than being a dead monster.

      Lars,

Whenever Mrs. Firefly reads me a newspaper headline about some idiot going on a killing spree, then turning the gun on himself I always reply, “They always do that in the wrong order. Turn the gun on yourself, THEN go on the killing spree.”

Eh the guy was a loser like Reynolds said. I feel no sorrow for him. No pity. World would be better off without him.
