  It does look like it could be good. Pays homage to the original, doesn’t take itself too seriously and seems to make some clever changes.

  If nothing else, took the bad taste out of my mouth. Let’s see if any Red Dawn Mach II trailers can do the same (unlikely).

  My only complaint is the 12 year-old, compared to the 16 year-old protagonist of the original. I’m afraid that instead of learning how to defend himself against some real ass-kickings, it’s going to be kiddified nerf-combat. It also makes it harder for adults–those who have nostalgia for the original–to connect with this film. Come to think of it, maybe it should take itself more seriously? The original had some real emotional punch, even as it had humor.

    Agreed. They avoided a monster trap – they cast the only man who could replace Pat Morita.
