Missed it by that much!
GO SAINTS!
Eh, don’t care.
Man I don’t like Katie Couric, but that was a great piece she did on Drew and Brittany Brees. What a great couple.
SuperBowl is meaningless without the Cowboys in it! IMHO!
Brian Waters wins the Walter Payton Award for humanitarian work… great honor.
Queen Latifah doing America the Beautiful…. God bless her she’s nervous. I like her… my favorite ex-rapper. Thanks God for sweeteners and Auto-Tune though.
National anthem… Carrie Underwood… yes!
Avatar: The Last Mindbender trailer… nice to see M. Night try something not a creepy thriller… especially given his latest output.
I still think rock, paper, scissors, would be a better way to determine the kickoff.
Uh uh, Floyd. Whoever picks “rock” would win.
Nothing beats rock!
Deep throw by N.O. on 3d and 2…. interesting choice.
good coverage and Dallas Clark still gets it.
Nice 3d and 7 by Manning.
Colts… first blood. Manning is fallible… 3-0.
Nice to see Abe Vigoda and Betty WHite in the Snickers Ad.
and they played that Tebow ad… if feminists even watched football it would be nice to see them burst into flames about now.
I just saw that Tebow ad…what the crap was the big deal??
My guess is that pro-abortion people don’t like the idea that choice includes life.
I’m listening to Westwood One’s radio broadcast with Marv Albert (yes, that Marv Albert) calling the game.
While I couldn’t care less about the commercials, I will be irked by the powers-that-be at Westwood One who always fail to let listeners hear the half-time show. Instead I’ll be hearing Boomer Esiason, Jim Gray & Marv describe the first half. Grrr…
If the game starts to suck, I’ve got Becket, with O’Toole & Burton queued up on Netflix.
Colts are playing great coverage… though Colston did drop that easy one.
love the partying astronomers and the Bud Light ad and yes! Russell Crowe and Robin Hood.
2 10+ Colt runs in a row… uh-oh N.O.
Garcon! Touchdown please. 96 yard drive — ouch! 10-0
GoDaddy… why are ads not kid friendly???
You mentioned auto-tune, Floyd? That Bud Light commercial was pretty good.
yeah that was great, but it also helped Queen Latifah — just a tad.
End of Q1. Saints need a drive just to give their D a break.
Sack by Freeney… I wonder if his ankle was overblown?
10-3. Saints looked good there… hope we have a game.
Nice human bridge to get your Bud. Now if only the beer deserved such effort.
I’ll be damned…. Jay Leno and David Letterman in the same ad — an Oprah sandwich.
the Bud Light ads are lame.
The employment agency ads are reigning supreme so far, especially that careerbuider one with Sheldon from Big Bang Theory.
Saints are looking good now. And then the 7 yard loss. Nice call.
gotta kick it I think… 10-6 is better than giving Manning all that time and 3 TOs.
Dodge Chargers are targeting the emasculated market?
Nice goal-line stand!
That could be a game changer right there… a run on 4th and goal? Wow. I’m impressing the hell out of myself with this liveblog let me tell you.
A lot of ads are targeting the emasculated male it seems… FloTV, Dove, and Dodge.
yeah. We noticed that.
“an Oprah sandwich.”
That is an image I did not need.
That Who / flotv ad sucked.
Will.I.Am.An.Idiot.
So far so meh… not bad defense as feared and so-so offense
Here’s the Who… The drummer looks like Jeff Beck and Terry Gilliam had a love child.
we thought he looked a bit like Nigel from Spinal Tap.
yes… there is that … Spinal Tap!
I think Pete Townsend is just playing air guitar.
I’m tired of seeing Pete’s belly button.
It’s sad when you hope no one holds up a lighter cause of your oxygen tank.
Ha! Thank made me laugh out loud, Tracy!
The Who be rockin’!
And I like the WW1 British target cymbals.
not a fan of The Who
The show Undercover Boss looks interesting… great concept.
It seems as if Arcade Fire is the official band of the NFL… that song is everywhere on NFL Network and on sports radio.
Yeah, but if the CEOs are trying to blend in with the rest of the employees, how are they going to explain all the cameras?
WTF?!?!
Why were all those guys piled up?
onside kick to start the half.
awesome
All things considered, The Who did a pretty good job on Won’t Get Fooled Again. I wonder if they’re singing to Obama voters.
Jimmy, I was thinking the same thing. It gave me a new perspective on the song.
I thought The Who was pretty good overall. I would have preferred an entire song instead of a medley, maybe “Eminence Front” or “Boris the Spider”. They aren’t my favorite band but I do have an affection for them. I saw them live about 20 years ago at Cleveland Municipal Stadium with reserved seating thankfully.
I wonder how many young people were asking their parents to explain “pinball”.
TCW… I think there’s a video game called Pinball Wizard.
Is there? Huh.
I’m not a video game player. Not that I have anything against that kind of thing but I have problems with vertigo. I can’t deal with stuff like that without getting dizzy. It truly is like that effect from Hitchcock’s “Vertigo”.
Just as I thought, the Westwood One morons spent the entire halftime blathering instead of letting listeners enjoy the Who. Since its sports talk radio for some reason or another they think they need to … talk.
Like slug bug.
Just saw the NCIS ad on youtube (already posted).
Very funny.
I’m checking out YouTube’s adblitz Channel. You can vote on your favorite Super Bowl ad.
The Tebow’s ad is noticeably missing from the choices offered.
Saints are en fuego — awake now.
Looks like we got a game now.
The Colts need a drive to slow this down a bit.
Gotta get back to the game…no TV in computer room! Great comments, Threedonians!
How does Manning do that???
He’s the Terminator.
That was a great run.
The Griswalds make an appearance! ha!
Trading FGs for TDs is not a good strategy.
Boomer thinks its a compliment comparing the live game to a video game. Hmmm …
Lord, get that loser Titan’s coach off the screen.
big 4th down play by the Colts.
thsi could be a big stop
big play by the NO defense
Turned on the tv in time for The Who.
They still rock!
51 yarder is a tough one…
Very competitive game . . .
The census bureau spending money on Superbowl ads. Your tax dollars at work….
It is a good game
the Who played at my high school gym in 1968…never realized that Townsend is only 5 or 6 years older than me. Damn…I got old, how the hell did that happen?
N.O. gambling. Dumb move.
Jeeze, Colts defense . . . try to stop the pass.
5:42 is like 3 quarters to Peyton Manning.
I need a review on the 2 point try.
A gamble, but I think he got it.
That’s amazing — whether or not they give him the 2 points.
Big reversal… huge.
Seems like a dearth of blockbuster ads this year.
Yep, could win the game for them.
That didn’t look conclusive enough to reverse. That ball was really wobbling.
Love me the NCIS ads.
Hey, it’s close they are going to give it to the Saints. I can’t see the Refs denying them this.
ABBY!
If Brees has a minutes the Saints will win 27-24 unless NO makes a stand here.
The DID NOT turn the Dream Police into the GREEN Police. F&*k Cheap Trick.
Did I just see a fleur-de-lis branded on a player’s arm?
The Saints really shouldn’t do that to their players.
The Green Police. They actually think that is a commercial that will sell cars? Someone, somewhere should be YouTubing the crap out of that for some good evironut smashing.
What’s the over/under on property destruction in N.O…. is there anything left to destroy? Is that too much?
The fat lady just sang.
As Dick Enberg would say… “Oh My!”
That interception was damn near Favrean!
That “green police” commercial was pretty funny, until I realized it depicted their idea of utopia.
Agreed.
We were thinking “They think that will make MORE people be Green?!?!”
Audi – a car for the really smug and self-righteous know-nothing.
Someone’s gonna Dorito Manning in Indy.
Anyone see that “chicken ad” earlier?
The one where the President was a chicken?
They’ll do like the ‘Boys against the Steelers in SB XIII… they’ll do a mad flurry to get respect, but ultimately lose.
good call by the refs actually.
Eh, well, gratz to the Saints. I guess the city needs this.
I get the sentiment TRO, but I doubt this’ll inspire anyone to go out and build a house tomorrow, or keep their cops and politicians honest.
no but the hurricane literally blew a lot of crap out. New Orleans might be better than it ever has been. Not rejoicing in that fact, but the aftermath I believe will be a success story… a phoenix like rise.
It didn’t blow out Nagin. Landrieu’ll be better—how couldn’t he be?—but Nagin getting re-elected by promising to keep New Orleans “chocolate?”
Shameful and disgusting.
At least they got Jindal.
Some official found trouble when he said the hurricane was the best thing that ever happened to the school system there – the problem: he was right.
True dat.
A run?
Reggie Wayne just missed that one.
I’d say this game was won by the inside kick. Their only chance was to keep Manning on the sideline.
Did Manning play after the first quarter? I can’t remember.
Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints… even without the Katrina storyline… that city loved that team.
Bad matchup for Indy. Saints have the bigger line, bigger receivers, bigger tight end. That was the difference. Once they figured out Indy’s scheme early, it was all a matter of time.
Defensively, no deep routes open for Indy and that killed the big play. It’s almost impossible to nickle and dime against a blitzing defense for 60 minutes. New Orleans turned the blitz on and off enough to keep Manning honest.
Sean Payton, oh if they kept you in Dallas.
Indy will fret for a few months, but will be back. They have Manning, Gonzalez will be healthy next year, as will Frenney and Bob Sanders. They should be the favorite again in the AFC.
When the Saints go to the White House to celebrate, Barrack will have yet another chance to beat up on Bush.
Congratulations to New Orleans.
Was thinking the same thing, Daniel.
“A city that was left for dead by the last administration has risen again!”
I saw a sign that read “Canonize Brees Stat”. Does the Pope take orders like a nurse? That seems not the proper procedure.
There is precedent for canonization by acclamation…
The Italians would say “santo subito” or “sainthood now” but I don’t think Papa Bene will be among them.
Though I did imagine what the game would be like with real saints on the field.
CW, if real saints played, they’d have to promise no sneaky bi-location.
Now, I’m off on a tangent…
I feel sorry for St. Anthony. Finding lost things all day, every day. And you know there’s some old ladies that are forever losing their glasses and bothering him.
“Oh, for the love of… MARIA! For the millionth time, THEY’RE ON TOP OF YOUR HEAD! No, there! They’re right there!. No, not behind you! Look where Im pointing!”
Heh! That’s really funny, Mike! I know my mother just asked for St. Anthony’s help in finding her glasses. They weren’t on her head though…they were in the couch.
Anyone want to think about what Bobby Jindal is doing?
E-Trade Baby Girlfriend – My vote for best ad.
“Taking control … Wolf-style!”
“And that milk-aholic Lindsay wasn’t over?”
That was just brilliant.
Congrats Saints. Sorry guys. Hubbys b-day. I wuz busy, but Iwanted to say my pick won…I really like Drew Brees…………
Yeah, congrats to the Saints. I never thought they’d do it this year. What NFL teams are yet to go to a Super Bowl other than my Browns?
I don’t think the Lions have ever been in a Supernowl, CW.
what the hell with the Audi Green Police commercial?
I know, JJ. WTF?!?!
Neither have the Vikings won…or sadly the Eagles
and the Jags, Panthers, Texans, and Titans (Oilers) haven’t won either…
Indeed the Audi Green Police commercial was far and away the worst and most annoying commercial of the night. Also congrats to Jim Caldwell on perhaps the worst coaching performance in a big game this side of Norv Turner.
Yes, that ad was jaw-droppingly offensive to freedom loving people everywhere. My reaction: that’s too much like what our future might be and it is not funny.
Guys the Audi ad was satire. They were making fun of the Greenies. My hubby and Rush agree on that. My first reaction was the same as yours however after thinking about its not what you think it was. Hilarious.
Favre commercial was hilarious to.
Satire or not, Robin Zander and Co. attached themselves. Now if I could only find someone to pull of the vocals for my “Thought Police” parody…
Yeah, I know it was satire and recognized it as such at the first viewing. I just thought it fell flat in it’s attempt to satirize the green mov’t. because they take themselves too seriously. I realize I’m probably alone in my take because I hate most TV ads anyway. I just loathe the idea of the tree huggers enjoying the ad because it reflects what they want our society to be. Like I said, I know I’m alone on this one.
From what I’ve been hearing, the eco-wackos did buy into what the Audi ad was saying. They’re too stupid to know when they’re being made fun of — you can’t say anything that’s so outlandish or irrational that no one in the green movement will stand up and say “Yeah, right on!”
Paging new episodes of The Goode Family…
