I’ll have a more complete review soon (either later this week or, more likely, next Monday), but suffice to say for now, Johnny Cash’s American VI: Ain’t No Grave does the man’s legacy well, quite well. Clocking in at a Fair Warning-esque 32 minutes, painfully obvious producer Rick Rubin’s drained the well of American Recordings, but, oh, what a last round-up. The song selections place Cash staring at his own death in the wake of his beloved June Carter’s — questioningly, bravely, defiantly — all while confidently letting us know he enjoyed his life as much as we enjoyed him. Miss ya, JC.
As heard on RF3D 2.7, a teaser…

There ain’t no one who can hold a candle to that man.
Thanks, Eric! Looking forward to your review. And yes, Johnny Cash IS still the man…the Original Man in Black.
