Obviously Mike is forgetting that the citizens of Threedonia are in charge, and the government of same is beholden to the power given them by the people…”us guys!”
I’ve been thinking about what Klavan and Breitbart have been saying concerning the need to re-engage with leftist institutions that influence our culture. It’s a small thing, but I read a post over at Apartment Therapy ( a popular home design blog) that took a dig at Donald Rumsfeld. I know he’s not perfect, but to smear him and dismiss his decades of public service to the US on a design blog!? I made a comment and wrote the editor, but I don’t know how much good it did. Anyway, found it troubling and had to vent.
Leftists are like Baptists who talk about religion all the time. (I am one and some of my brethren inject religion into everything all the time). We want to enjoy sports, design, art, the park on a sunny day and these killjoy leftists have to talk politics all the time. It’s their religion. Kudos for saying something. I’m sure you’ll get a nasty response.
Karen,
There was a slam on Sarah Palin in a review about a book on Alaska. A book that wasn’t about the gov and didn’t mention her at all.
Sports columnists regularly compare something about a team or an athlete to those nasty-ass Republicans. Because, you know = no Republican EVER reads the sports page.
Yeah, I just finished reading an article about Irving Petlin in the new issue of Art In America. He churns out the same derivative leftist agitprop the art world continually swoons over. You know Bush = evil. Really edgy stuff. It’s so hopelessly predictable and uninventive it’s laughable.
There is a really dumb proabort bitch on one of my fav message boards that I want
to crush and I am not in the mood to inflict anything on the hobag but
verbal blunt force trauma. What do I do?
Write every bit of angry vitriol you want in another document. But don’t post it. Get it out of your system and put it aside.
Yelling and screaming at folks, or as you put it, “inflict verbal blunt force trauma” doesn’t do anyone any good. In fact, more than likely, you would be giving the woman exactly what she expects from the “irrational,” “fundamentalist” Pro-Life side of the debate.
If you don’t care for my advice, take some Scriptural advice on the matter:
“Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head”
Someone else got to the dumb bitch before I got a chance to say anything…..I don’t think that woman fits on the message board. God is she stupid. I asked her about chapter 50 of a book people had read tehre and she was like what has that to do with abortion….the chapter was a rant about partial birth abortion. Like I said she is the stupidest human being I have ever met and she needs to go.
Daniel has the crux of it. You want to punish her, correct? But that will not convince her. If you still wish to respond, I have some advice. First, try my primer on debate and discussion. Second, there are some specific questions and arguments you can try:
1. Why? The most potent question to unravel an argument is “why?” See the debate primer for more on that.
2. The Pro-Life argument is straightforward; is it or is it not a human being? If it is a human being, then it is a person and if it is a person, then it must have protection under the law, which includes a right to life. If it is not a human being, then it is not a person and then it is necessary to grant it protection under the law as a person. So, the first question that answers the whole argument is not whether or not a woman has a right to choose, as that is not the thing being argued–Pro-lifers are not agitating for a ban on sex change operations, for example–but whether or not the welfare of another party, that of the unborn, enter into the equation.
3. The embryo, zygote and fetus are defined as developmental stages of humans, so medical science already classifies them as human beings, but what of the moral and metaphysical classifications? As development continues, it is increasingly hard to justify that it is not a person, if one uses the “spark of consciousness” as the bar. An unborn child, starting the second trimester, will respond to stimuli as any infant would. The hiccup, they cough, they cry, they adjust themselves to find more comfortable positions, they respond to external sounds, and so on. When preforming fetal corrective surgeries (while they are still inside the womb) doctors use anesthesia to prevent pain.
Well, what if we argue it is “not conscious enough”? Well, at what point is it “conscious enough” or “enough” of a person? A prominent Yale medical ethicist argues that parents should be allowed to commit infanticide up to two years of age, using that criteria.
3. What about rape or incest? Is it not true that most abortions–the several hundred thousand preformed every year–don’t involve either of those? Is every case of incest with non-consensual or with a minor? Is it the fault of the unborn for being conceived in such fashion? Without answering those questions, the point here is to demonstrate that the first question does not blanket the whole issue and that welfare of others may be legitimately considered; advocating for “compassion” may be asking for a great evil in its name.
4. The second important question is what of a woman’s right to choose? But didn’t they already choose? They went into situation, knowing the risks, and freely chose a course of action. Should I have the “right” to choose whether or not buckle my child into the car seat, protected from any legal consequences of their injury in a collision? Should I have a “right” to not call 911 when I see a person injured, not to be held criminal liable if they die? Should I have the “right” to let my kids starve? If a choice resulted in the creation of a new human life–a new person–then one could argue that no such right exists; they had a right to choose already.
Its not worth it. She is one of those bitchy leftist victims that will scream we’re being mean to her if she digs a hole for herself that she can’t get out of.
Smart phone app that allows for easier illegal immigration into the US. Marking spots to find water and avoid Border Patrol. Develop with taxpayer money at the University of California-San Diego and the University of Michigan. My favorite line from the article comes when Fox attempted to contact its makers:
“The faculty members behind the project — UCSD’s Micha Cardenas, Ricardo Dominguez and Brett Stalbaum and the University of Michigan’s Amy Sara Carroll — declined comment for this story. ‘As a collective, we have decided that we would prefer not to be interviewed by Fox News,’ Carroll wrote in an e-mail. ‘Our aesthetic diverges so much from your network’s that we question the possibility of genuine dialogue in an exchange with you.’
Always here to help blackhawk (and any other visitors to NW Ohio), directions to Ann Arbor from Toledo: north till you smell it, west till you step in it. Sorry, that joke never gets old for me.
If you got a GPS enabled smart cell phone, how fricken’ hard and desperate are you that to get into the US you have to do illegally?
Something tells me that the those coming into the country to find a better life from what they are offered in Mexico aren’t going to get much out of this. The evil coyotes, who mash these folks into trucks and leave them in the desert to die of exposure, and the drug runners, killing and poisoning our citizenry, will greatly appreciate it.
This isn’t about helping illegal immigrants. It’s about some Leftist academics showcasing their moral superiority to the rest of us. This way they can pretend to be part of “the struggle” without having to actually do any heavy lifting or get dirty.
Go see it for yourself…
Does anyone care to unravel the mystery of how to hotlink images in the comments? It doesn’t seem to f**king work, no matter what I do.
You guys aren’t able to post images or vids, David. Just post the link and draw my attention to it and I’ll try to do it for you.
Here’s a caption: “I will crush you all, just like this ant.”
What do you mean by “You guys?” Threedonia is segregated and governed by bigots
What do YOU mean “you guys”???
Zionist sympathizer.
Obviously Mike is forgetting that the citizens of Threedonia are in charge, and the government of same is beholden to the power given them by the people…”us guys!”
Looks like the natives are getting restless. Floyd, Rufus, one of you may need to come down here and diffuse this situation.
We have the dogs and the hoses ready for you uppity commenters. “uppity” is Mike’s word.
We don’t like “agitators” round here, ain’t that right, Floyd?
My mistake. I meant “you people”. You know, you typical folks.
Antagonist!
Eric’s poster will obviously be in the RNC’s next direct mail campaign.
Because everyone knows just how much we LOVE the RNC.
I love ‘em in bunches.

What brand is it? I can recommend some replacements.
