My Little Problem – After giving up her one-night stand baby boy for adoption, a low-level gopher (Anne Hathaway) uses her sass and street smarts to rise through the ranks of her design company. She eventually marries the man set to inherit the company (Bradley Cooper), before quitting her job to raise their family. However, her picture-perfect life comes to a screeching halt when the son she thought she’d never see again (Bobb’e J. Thompson) knocks at her door with his money-hungry adopted father (Chris Tucker), the hilarity ensues.
Back to Back – Following a bizarre gardening accident and a subsequent life-saving surgery which renders them Siamese twins who can never see the other’s face, a spoiled Beverly Hills heiress (Hayden Panatierre) and her illegal lawn-boy (Taylor what’s-his-name from Twilight) realize how much they really have in common.
How’s your catching up with the band coming anyway? Any faves or not-so-faves worth mentioning?
I liked the first half of Sunshine, JJ, but I hated the way it devolved in the second half into a gory slasher film. Talk about squandering your premise.
I just watched Moon the other day. Check it out, it is definitely worth a viewing, probably multiple viewings. I thought is was great, and a very original entry into the paranoid sci-fi thriller genre.
Blackhawk, I thought Moon was one of the best movies of 2009 regardless of genre and it was a crying shame it was forgotten by Oscar.
Sam Rockwell was great, as was the direction, visuals, score, and the dramatic impact. I thought it was ultimately a pretty touching movie. I got to see it on the big screen and was blown away by it.
Also, rumor has it that Duncan Jones wants to make more movies in his “Mooniverse,” not necessarily sequels to Moon however. Cannot where I read that, but I think it’d be a neat premise.
Yeah, I got it from netflix and sent it back the next day and now I’m regretting it. I should have watched it at least one more time. I also read the same thing about Jones wanting to make a trilogy. But it was great, definitely one of the best of 2009.
For those of you who (like me) were intrigued by the Reverend Horton Heat clip a while back, or if you’re just a gearhead into muscle cars, there is a great Iowahawk contribution on a rocket-assisted Galaxie 500 at Hawk’s site:
Dave Burge is consistently among the best in the satire department, but when he gets into something he loves, he’s every bit as sharp in his serious writing.
JimmyC, maybe he was looking for a bit of liquor with his blood withdrawal and they didn’t let him into Seattle’s Drunk Dorms. So he figured the Union Gospel Mission would be the next best place to find a bunch of inebriates no one would miss.
So it’s a Friday night and I’m browsing NRO and I’m directed to this piece by Michael Fumento providing strong evidence that James Sikes’ out of control Toyota Prius story is a hoax.
And I’m staring at that weird pic of Fumento, thinking, ‘I’ve seen that face somewhere before. … Let’s see was it in a Chucky slasher pic? No … The plastic face on a kids toy? No …’
is that a Rockwell?
Yes…yes it is!
JJ, have you always been using that avatar? Because that made my freakin’ day.
Howie Carr at the Boston Herald has a piece about Paddy Kennedy…says the House should install a Breathalyzer on the speaker’s podium.LOL!
Sean Penn…always a class

Fritz,I heard that the Reids Of Nevada Dynasty is in trouble…Dingy and Dingy,Jr.
True Scott. Dingy is so low in the polls he can’t “reid” the numbers. Dingy Jr.’s campaign water is being poisoned by leakage from papa’s well!
Sorry about the pun, but I’m old enough I think it should fly on its own merit!
fathers always cause so many headaches
Yes. Yes they do!
Eric, heres something you might enjoy…or not. 10 Replacements songs that could be terrible romantic comedies.

Love it – thanks! My lame contributions…

Nerdy sci-fi plug of the day:
I just watched a Danny Boyle movie from 2007 called Sunshine. I had never heard of it before until I saw it on the SyFy Channel’s menu.
Very interesting movie…with some arresting visuals, music, etc. definitely check it out.

I wonder how many guys would like to be this bicycle seat … or bicycle tire for that matter.
Queue Queen: “I want to ride my bicycle / I want to ride my bike.”
Is this work safe?
What? … You don’t trust me? Ya cut me deep, V, ya cut me real deep.
Seriously. Yes, it is safe for work. It’s a clip of a trick single gear bike rider. Completely safe for work.
Depends. Do you work in a bicycle factory? If not, you’re good to go.
Hip hop Chinese Grandmas:
“I can behave like a well educated woman if I have to. But inside I prefer the Western lifestyle.”
In other words, be an intelligent and well-mannered Chinese citizen or embrace rap and become a dumb, rebellious Westerner.
Whatever it takes to bring down the ChiComs, man. You go, Grannies!

As if the streets of Seattle weren’t weird enough, now we’ve got to deal with vampires carrying pipe bombs (http://www.mynorthwest.com/?nid=11&sid=297411).
Seriously, this town is just a few weirdos away from turning into a David Lynch movie.

You would have thought he would have hit a blood bank,Jimmy…
That would have been the logical choice Scott, but then, I don’t think this guy was big on logic.
JimmyC, maybe he was looking for a bit of liquor with his blood withdrawal and they didn’t let him into Seattle’s Drunk Dorms. So he figured the Union Gospel Mission would be the next best place to find a bunch of inebriates no one would miss.
I have been watching THE MADNESS OF KING GEORGE.
I think Nigel Hawthorne deserved the Best Actor Oscar over Tom Hanks.

Then it hit me.
Michael Fumento is Surgeon General of Beverly Hills.
