The movie channels can go screw themselves… yeah they’ve got Irish themed films on tomorrow, but no The Quiet Man, No The Fighting 69th, not even The Commitments or Once.
It’ll be a sadder day tomorrow without Duke, Maureen, Victor, and Ward on the tube.

“Once” is a brilliant movie. Own a copy of it.
First tonight’s Justified, then The Commitments.
Hmmm…TCM does seem a bit weak on the Irish fare since I was expecting a few in prime time.
Despite that I highly recommend “42nd Street” and “Gold Diggers of 1933″. I have a soft spot for musicals of the 1930s and these two are fine examples. Both movies are Warner Bros. so they have that WB pace that moves the plot along like it’s set to a metronome. My advice is to take a break from today’s bad news and check out an era where people had it tough but still knew how to have fun.
Those are great… I know they always show The Quiet Man on March 17, but why change that?
ONCE is beautiful.
