It’s amazing what one sees in SoCal on our wide wonderful freeways. We saw this this morning (5/28)… happily there were no fatalities and we drove by before the fire department got there in force so we were mere minutes behind it. I could feel the heat on my arm — and it would’ve been uncomfortable in a few more seconds. My beautiful photographer wife took these pics — unfortunately we were going to pick up her best lens at the Canon Service Center…. They closed the freeway behind us minutes later.

Great pics, Mrs. Turbo!
My daily commute used to involve Highway 85 going through San Jose, and I saw some pretty amazing stuff- one car fire, one police chase (it ended with the car thieves rolling the SUV they had stolen and being chased down on foot by the cops), and more smashed-up cars than every NASCAR race combined.
Very good pics!
Very impressive. Pretty amazing when you see stuff that looks like it is from a movie in real life.
Fabulous photos!
heard about it on local news staring w/ Rush and it was still being reported upon during Mark Levine’s radio show!
now I know why!

Great pics! Looks like scenes from CHiPs.
Ponch wasn’t that hot! He just thought he was!
I think Estrada goes by the name of Paunch these days. You’d need another 27 cars in a pile-up to be a true CHiPs highway disaster.
Seriously, I saw more car fires in California in one week out there then my entire life anywhere else, to this day! Do people in California just get sick of their cars and just one day in the middle of the road they say, “F— it,” light the car on fire and walk away?
