The first half the twentieth century saw the emergence of true maestros from the Southern musical tradition. Now, with all the glitz and glam, there aren’t any true masters among this generation.

Thanks to you, I now have Rich Mullins on my iPhone. I love this Sunday Gospel feature lots.

Thanks texacalirose. Mullins was just grand… died way too soon from the earthly perspective.

There are some gems in contemporary Christian music. They were originally ghettoized by the suits, but now it’s become its own industry. Too bad because there’s no much redemptive in the pop music world. U2, Jars of Clay, Switchfoot, P.O.D. (who are as hot anymore because rap/metal has mostly subsided), Amy Grant for awhile would break through, Lifehouse too. There’s a niche for some Christian musicians who preach to the choir, but not much beyond.

Yessir, I read up on him (having never heard of him before). He walked the walk, indeed. I look forward to seeing him on the other side … in due time … God willing.
