“There are legitimate questions as to whether he’s out of his depth or not.”

On the one hand that’s a “No sh!t Sherlock!” kind of statement… but coming from this guy — that’s a smack down. From The Corner over at NRO.

  • You know something is wrong when James Carville starts criticizing BHO. Of course there have been rumbles from Bill & Hillary as well. I’m figuring they’re working on a ’12 run for the roses for her “Thighness!”

I give Obama a pass on the BP fiasco. It’s not like he can adorn the presidential scuba gear, and head down under with a plumbing snake. But the other stuff is fair game. Obama set the tone when he went after Fox and Limbaugh, he was playing out of the “Progressive Guide to Student Body Elections,” when in fact he should have been acting presidential. He’s showed no interest in leadership or governing, especially the stimulus bill and the dreaded health care bill – both of which were special interest payoffs and did little for actual reform. The auto bailouts were a disaster – he could have given each Chrysler employee $75,000 for what he eventually sank into the auto bail out.

His base wants him to “get angry,” (call Bill Bixby) but he’s been notoriously cranky for months, even in public. What else? Challenge Sean Hannity to an MMA match?

He’ll sink or swim with the economy – just like any other president. If there is steady growth, a reasonable lowering of the unemployment rate, he probably wins in 2012, especially given the lack of viable candidates on the right. That doesn’t mean it will be easy, or there will be any Dems left in Congress for him to attempt legislation.

As to giving Obama a pass on BP, I would be so inclined had he not long since made that particular bed; now he can d-well sleep on it. Had he been realistic about the powers of the presidency from the start (e.g., not joined in the Bush-bash during Katrina) and had he not bought his ticket on the Oil Spill ride (bought it on “Day-1″, as I recall) I would excuse his current predicklement as not of his doing. But he wrote this particular check and I am quite willing to hold him accountable for it.

(BTW – I recently got a real bargain on a bulk lot of cliches and metaphors and have to use them up.)
