Doing whatever you’re doing today to either one of these will make it — and you — infinitely cooler.

So, I’m selling my old car and buying a new one, as what I have right now is approaching thirty years old and with a V8, is not exactly easy on the gas mileage. I’ve been looking around and I have a chance to purchase a ’98 Mercedes E-320 for a song, with 139,000 miles, which is right in line with everything else I’ve been looking at in the same price range (Saturns and Hondas, mostly), where everything is about a 100,000 miles and over. So, good purchase or not? This assumes, of course, that it’s not a lemon, which I don’t think it is, but I’m going to check before plunking down money. It’s also through a reputable dealership, not Big Al’s Used Car Shack.
Ask to see the CarFax report. Other than that, I can’t help you. I’m in the reverse mide. I’m hoping to buy something in the 70-71 period to rebuild and drive.
FWIW, with all the work I did on my old ’71 Mustang Grande, I had the highway MPG up to 28, with a 302 Windsor V-8. I was happy with that.
I know Mercedes are built to last, and are pretty tough cars, but, I have been hearing that they can be what we called in the Air Force, “Hangar Queens”, in that they need a lot of repairs, and tend to be expensive to fix. Same with BMWs and Porsches. Audi seems to have a good reputation in that regard, and the stats show the most reliable cars worldwide are Infinitis.
The more history you can get, the better. Most any car with regular maintenance will last a very long time.
MY favorite theme song was from the Peter Gunn series.
Great road song, too.
Hawaii five o and Magnum PI. I hate being with
out wireless!
Have to agree on Hawaii 5-0, but I’ve always liked these 2 Brit TV series intros:
(Please don’t ask me to explain the purple hair – no one can.)
PRISONER had the Best. TV. Intro. EVER!
Sorry dude it’s not better than this…
I don’t recall who here in the hallowed halls of Threedonia reccommended “From Paris With Love” but I would like for you to repeatedly punch yourself in the face since I’m not there to do it. Honestly it would have been a better experience if John Travolta had just shown up at my house and screamed and threw his feces at me. While I have no proof of this I’m pretty sure this movie was written in crayon on construction paper by a 3 year old. It made absolutely no sense.
I was not the one who recommended it, but I didn’t think it was that bad…if you weren’t expecting much from it.
So leftist radicals, Islamists and unions apparently teamed up to prevent an Israeli cargo ship from offloading its cargo in Oakland over the weekend. For no other reason that the company being Israeli.
This is quite unnerving if you ask me, that a small group of liberal/progressive radicals can dictate what goods reach shelves all across the USA and strike real economic damage against an ideological enemy with the backing of labor unions. When there is discussion about securing our ports I didn’t think it meant against fellow Americans.
The Mission: Impossible theme was just a part of the score for the end of the first episode—the rendezvous and getaway music. It was so good they kept it for the theme.
At one of my jobs, I had to make a lot of trips down to the basement carrying stuff, and the door to the stairs was hidden behind a large fixture. I always hummed Mission: Impossible music while I did it—not the theme song, but the sneaking theme. The “Barney’s in the Ductwork” music. It did make it cooler.
My sister has the Mission:Impossible theme as the ring tone for our mom. She has the Imperial Death March for her MIL.
I have a loon call for all my relatives. It’s more subtle.
I wish life had an actual soundtrack sometimes. My wife had a real bitch for a co-worker a few years back. Everytime I saw Judy or we talked about Judy I would sing the Wicked Witch of the West theme… and it would make her smile — my wife that is. The bitch? the most miserable person to ever walk the face of the Earth.
“Enter the Dragon” was my favorite Lalo piece
I am on my second Venti drip of the day here while waiting for the cleaners to come do the old house. ARGHHH! Think I am impatient now? Just wait. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
The original “Uncle” music was written by Jerry Goldsmith. Lalo didn’t get involved until well into the first season.
Just sayin.
David McCallum really bugs me. He’s aged much too well.
Just found out there is an added track day on 17 July. Ohhhh, yeah!
Lalo Schifrin….saw him in 1994 at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, conducting the Munich Rundfunk as part of his Jazz Meets the Symphony series. Stravinsky Hall.
a better time in all my life I have not had.
Ray Brown was playing on stage, Paquito d’Rivera and one or two others I cannot recall their names now.
I may have said this already, or someone else may have, but in the interest of getting my “now daily” 5 peat…Rahm Emanuel is planning to leave the White House. He is having a problem with BHO’s idealogy!!! Go figure!
