Of course, this was back when the whole family could gather ’round the TV without the fear of having to explain “the birds and the bees” or some variation, thereof, every time an actor opened his/her mouth.
I have a colleague who was a friend of Red Skelton’s (we have his home piano in our theater) and he says Skelton and his wife were the best people — kind, generous, patriotic, funny, etc. Mister we could use a man like Red Skelton again.
