While Wanks (and I) laments the death of the 45 and 70s TV themes breaking the Top 10, a fun little 1970s football coach pictorial from SportsIllustrated.com, something to wile away the summer minutes. For the ‘bama fans here, I’d like to point out that you know I have the utmost respect for “Bear” when I chose to let this slide-show start with him, and not linking to JoePa or the genius above to get it rolling.

Bum Phillips wouldn’t even be allowed in practice like that in today’s game. And that’s too bad because he was a joy to behold.
I appreciate Jack Del Rio of Jacksonville wearing a suit on the sidelines at Jacksonville. Finally something not about overt advertising and signage.
And yes… Tom is right where he belongs… in Heaven.
It might have something to do with the fact that Del Rio played for Landry.
Go ‘Bama! Roll Tide!
Careful. That scumbag currently in Tuscaloosa’s not fit to even look at a houndstooth hat.
Yeah, real class act all the way there. (eye roll)
I still get teary when I see pics of Mr Landry. I loved his hat, his suit, his work ethic, his class….football hasn’t been the same without him for me.
Jerry Jones could cure cancer tomorrow and I’d still never forgive him for his ignominious dismissal of Coach Landry. Never.
Football legend fired on a golf course…way to go. Jerry Jones, world class douche.
Oh you guys and your Saban hate…
Anyway love the hair…and I have nothing good to say about that photo of John Madden and Ken Stabler..Vince is rolling in his grave at Sheepshead Bay.
Landry…exactly football has not been the same since he went away. And I love the fact Staubach is behind him.
Saban deserves the hate.
Amen, brutha … and then some. Steph, you’re actually gonna defend that douche? Say it isn’t so.
Poke poke poke!
Great photo, I just loved Tom Landry. Watching him on the sidelines just made everything a little bit better.
The George Allen pic: WOW! That plaid carpet just left an imprint on my retinas.
I’m very sad the Don Coryell photo is in black and white.
The Joe Paterno picture cracks me up. He was pretty much wearing that last season when I caught a game on TV.
And in the Redskins photo…HOLY COW WHERE CAN I GET CARPET THAT SCREAMS AT YOU NON STOP IN A VERBAL ATTACK OF YOUR VERY BEING!!!!!
