We should start a series here called “Artful Dodgers”,about Dems running for reelection who will head for Pago Pago if necessary to avoid appearing with Prez Bozobama. The latest, according to Powerline,is Sen. Russ Feingold:rather than appear in Milwaukee Monday,he chose to attend a parade in Janesville,WI!!
I’m predicting a beating from the Saints and a 33 to 17 victory which will include Favre throwing 1 TD and 2 picks. Favre will not duplicate last year’s season and I think is in for a 24 TD and 19 INT season on a team that gets into the playoffs as a wildcard.
Interesting prediction, V. I hope it’s true because I’m picking the Saints to win in the family football pool. Probably just home field advantage but it can’t be that easy to play at the Super Dome. Farve does have his share of INT doesn’t he? You may very well be right, V.
Not really fond of the idea. There are far better ways to combat Islamic extremism. Although I defend the right of them to do so, this just seems far too antagonistic to be reasonable.
Not to mention, you know some lefty group is going to do a Bible burning and the irony will be that no one will seriously complain but that will get completely lost so it’s just not worth it.
It seems to me a sort of a negative two-fer. Not only does it provide the chance to make Christians look bad to Muslims, but to secularists as well. I knew a pastor once who didn’t seem to believe he’d been faithful unless he’d made an enemy every day. Seems like the same attitude.
Its ridiculous. My opinion is this: If you want to make a statement have people who are experts in Islam like Robert Spencer, Brigette Gabriel etc. come and give a talk and provode people with their works to read. That you way you express your free speech and piss off Muslims without making a complete asshat of yourself.
Personally, I think it’s a terrible idea. It’s the kind of intolerant crap that the Left is always falsely accusing conservatives of (while occasionally practicing it themselves, of course). While it’s intended as a protest against radical jihadists, it will inevitably be seen as an insult to all Muslims around the world.
Having said that, though, this Pastor still has the right to do it. And it’s been astounding to see the liberal hypocrisy this has generated. Liberals claim that if you disagree with the burning of the American flag and the building of a Mosque on Ground Zero, then you’re trampling on people’s constitutional freedoms. But now they’re speaking out against this man’s right to express HIS protest against radical Islam. So as usual, it’s “The First Amendment for Me, but not for Thee.”
My friend had a closet full of shirts with the right sleeves burned off to say otherwise. Hey, it’s the sticks, it’s Ohio, it’s the summer – “I’m bored, lets go burn something.”
Phew…thank goodness! I was afraid the article was going to say something about old guys like me who still have good hair being so stressed about the prospect of losing it that they stressed themselves into a coronary!
If it rains hard enough, yes it will flood. We do have a very large flood channel/drainage system in place now that generally takes care of that sort of thing before it can get that bad.
For this music-themed open thread, I give you Dark Cristal
Also, take a look at the Concord Project and pass it on.

Welcome to a Tuesday that feels like a Monday.
Yes, it does.
As Ducky from LAND BEFORE TIME WOULD SAY:
Yep! Yep! YEP!
And remember, three-horns don’t play with longnecks.
And step on a crack and you fall in break your back.
By the way, if you want to be put in a depressed mood, read the story behind the actress who played Ducky, Judith Barsi:

This is Monday 2.0. On the positive front though NFL season starts Thursday!!!!
Yes! Vikins vs. Saints. Should be interesting. Saints are favored by 4.5.

Thoughts?
GO SAINTS!
Huzzah!

Lair of the Shadow Broker comes out for Mass Effect 2 today. That’s what I’m looking forward to.
Hell yes. Downloaded Dead Rising: Case Zero as well. That one is meh.
Make sure to wait. Bioware uploaded the PC version of the file with only zeroes in it.
D’OH!
I’m saving my money for Halo Reach.
What do you all think of the Pastor planning to burn Korans ont he anniversary of 9/11?

For the record: I am against it.

I agree, they have a right but its stupid.
I think Jim Treacher summed it up: “Unless you’re cold, it’s dark, or you need to cook something, burning stuff is stupid.”
Me too: it’s pointless and stupid but he has a right to be pointless and stupid.

Hmmm…could be a new trend for the hipsters. Tell him to set up a booth at youth-oriented events and he’ll have a hot seller on his hands.
For a long time they’ve known stress increases risk of heart attack, but had little way to link it. Now they can, with hair.

We actually had a good rain in Vegas this morning. Good here means 0.8 inches and only 50 fender benders on the f-way instead of the usual 35!
Does the Imperial Palace’s garage still flood, Fritz?
We had a decent storm this afternoon. A real frog strangler with hail.
