I liked that opening sequence with the cartwheeling chair – pretty darn good; kind of funny to DeNiro in this type of movie though.
…have you seen DeNiro in “Stardust?” Talk about “playing against type.”
Ever see Ronin, Tink?
I remember do seeing him in the promos for Stardust, Kenn, and thought it odd.
Outlaw, I didn’t see Ronin either but did see Heat, which is obviously more of an actioner. Actually, his was my favorite character in Heat and the reason I probably don’t like it more is because of how it ends. I was just looking at his IMDB page and saw he was also in Machete (crazy!). After reading that, this one seems a fairly reasonable choice. Some of his upcoming titles look interesting, to say the least (especially Another Bullsh*t Night in Suck City – which would also be a great title for my Sunday night).
Ronin is awesome, one of the best car case scenes ever.
I have heard that, I think it might be on Netflix Instant – I’ll check it out.
Do we really need to know the title to your sex life? Really?
LOL, good one – Cookie for you!
The funniest part (to me at least) is that I was referring to a horrible afternoon/evening at a CHURCH function.
Again, don’t need to know the wherefores and whatnots.
It is obvious to me, EP, that you REALLY want to know the whole story. So here goes . . .
Ronin = Schplatt’s favorite movie of all time.
In the book the movie is based on, one of the main villains is a Muslim Sheik with a grudge against the heroes (he’s the one who hires Clive Owen’s assassin character to take them out). In this trailer, you can briefly see some of the action taking place in the Middle East, so it looks like that plot point made it into the film, which should hopefully give it a nice relevant, GWOT flavor.
Guess it’s not a remake of Pekinpah’s movie then.
Looks good. De Niro and Statham doing what De Niro and Statham do!
Heh. Are you trying to get a bite of Wankette’s naughty cookie?
Nope…I simply like most of the films those two make. This one looks a tad like Ronin, which I liked a lot.
It’s hard to believe they could top Stallone/Banderas, but it looks like they’ve done it.
Can they top Stallone/Bullock? No, I don’t think so.
Enhance your calm, John Spartan!
+3 seashells
Bullock is taller than both Stallone and Banderas!
…standing on each others’ shoulders, I’d wager!
And Statham. If I’m not mistaken he is a member of the lollipop guild too.
I haven’t watched the trailer yet because I want to make a guess. Statham plays a guy who drives cars fast, beats people up, doesn’t say much but grunts a lot, and beds supermodels with ease.
Am I right? Has he ever played anything else?
Look at that, I was right!
Based on a true story? How about, “Based very loosely on a true story in the same way Star Trek is based on reality”
