Quote of the Day — Yesterday

We’ve debated Sarah Palin over the years and whether or not she should be President, etc. In a perfect world no, but she’d be light-years better than Obama and thinking that’s false is grounds for doubting your sanity. In any case… love her, hate her, or in between… this quote about Obama and the labeling of Tea Partiers as “terrorists” by Biden (or not Biden) is awesome and dead on:

If we were really domestic terrorists, shoot, President Obama would be wanting to pal around with us wouldn’t he? I mean he didn’t have a problem with paling around with Bill Ayers back in the day when he kicked off his political career in Bill Ayers apartment, and shaking hands with Chavez and saying he doesn’t need any preconditions with meeting dictators or wanting to read US Miranda rights to alleged suspected foreign terrorists. No if we were real domestic terrorists I think President Obama wouldn’t have a problem with us.

I support her and like what she says but I have never seen any woman bring out such visceral hatred in people that would have otherwise suppoted her. I gotta say I think her reality show hurt her chances for being taken seriously. I don’t think she should run for President because it would be a circus. She would be the most amazing king maker.

    • Later on in the show Steph she smacked down Romney for sitting out the budget deal. Which was true… he sat on the sidelines mealy-mouthed and then when it was over commented. I’ll vote for him if he runs 100% but he needs to show more stones.

Palin haters are deranged by and large. Dislike is one thing — all of us are disliked — that’s part of life… but the stuff heaped at her is mentally deranged by and large.

waiting for the field to work itself out. Perry is about to announce..yeah you heard that right..sometime mid month…then we will see if Romney has stones. Already without announcing the Texas gov. is number three or two in polls and is ahead in polls in Florida and NC. I know a lot of people have reservations but he has shown pretty damned bright lately in fact supporting that illegal immigration bill thats working its way through the TX statehouse is pretty much awesome. He’s my guy when he announces. Already signed up to volunteer. He could push Romney to the right…which is what ROmney needs. Bachmann is good but I think her staying power is in doubt..but I like her better than Palin as a candidate. We just have to get Obama out of office….period.
I feel bad for Palin but that Reality show she did just killed her for me as a serious candidate. Had she done a speaking tour like Reagan did…you know going to towns and places all over teh country, do a stump speech and then talk to people it would have made more sense….but a reality show?

        “All of us are disliked.”

        Well, no one dislikes me.

        No one who matters, anyway.

        –Mike!

I think she is to the point, Steph, that people’s opinion of her is set whether is it for the good or for the bad and pretty much no matter what she does it won’t change anyone’s mind. So why not do the show or whatever else she wants? Those who support her will continue to do so and those who loathe are not going to hate her more because she was on TLC (Palin Derangement syndrome has already been off the charts for years now). My real wish in all of this is that McCain had left her out of his campaign completely – it would have been interesting to see where her career might have ended up if she had been able to come to national prominence (and I believe she would have) in a more slow and better managed manner.

Yeah…the whole legal battle crap might have been avoided. Conservative women have a harder ro to hoe than leftist women. Women are expected to be man hating Debbie Wasserman Shultz’s. Palin broke the mold there and the whole world is pissed off at her…even our own side. We have a good slate of candidates despite what some of the extremists on our side think (Maybe purists is a bettre word). We need to be more practical. Palin would be a hell of a King maker and that should be her job. My feelings are she should have run for the Senate. Run her PAC and do a talking tour…let the people who are running run. Don’t be a distraction. I know a lot of people love her…I used to..now its mere support. I guess I want someone serious….not a side show…she let herself become one. I am being brutally honest here to.

I agree that Palin makes a better king-maker and vocal critic of Obama and Democrats. She’s certainly learned how to use the media’s obsession with her to bring attention to other Republican candidates and causes.

The visceral reaction that Palin elicits didn’t just happen – it’s been purposely created by the MSM and entertainment industry (SNL, etc.)using Aliksky tactics)as John Nolte details here: http://biggovernment.com/jjmnolte/2011/05/07/msm-uses-palins-own-children-as-political-weapons-against-her/#more-265820

The problem with giving in to these tactics (by abandoning Palin as a serious politician) is that they’ll use these tactics to destroy other viable Republicans. We’ve already seen Michelle Bachmann singled out by the MSM for Palin-style attacks (migraines, her husband’s business & sexuality, etc.) as well as the recent attempt to brand Allen West as an unstable misogynist. It will just keep going as long as it is effective.

          • Stephanie

Eh Bachmann does not elicit the same response. I mention her to the same people who hate Palin and they like Bachmann. Anecdotal evidence…

            • Liz

Yeah – Palin seems to hit a nerve like no one else. She seems to embody everything the Left hates – red state, non-ivy-league education, non-professional career, Christian, happily married with 5 kids, pro-life even in the face of adversity – and yet she is successful and happy.

But the folks at MSNBC have been mocking Bachmann and calling her crazy for several years. The way Chris Matthews talked to her on the 2010 election night was especially bad – he asked her if she was a zombie while the other MSNBC panelists laughed off-camera. And Playgirl has been trying to get one of her sons to pose nude. If she continues to poll well there will be a lot more of this.

I know they did it on purpose, Liz, but the hatred is still so irrational and I can’t believe people buy into it so fully. Just crazy. Do you hate anyone like they hate Palin (or Bush or Cheney)? I wish several of the current politicians would lose or quit or just go away so they are making policy anymore, but I don’t wish that they, their families, dogs, neighbors and anyone they ever knew was obliterated in some horrible way, never to walk the earth again.

  • Mighty Skip

    Ouch. That’s got to sting.

  • INFJ

Palin claimed, when she resigned her Governorship, that her purpose for doing so was to campaign for Republican candidates. I take her at her word.

  • Scott M.

I’m with Perry too,Steph, but he roiled me somewhat with that constitutional amendment stuff to ban gay marriage. The regulation of marriage is up to the states, however they choose to do it,not the feds.
