Jim Tressel, who isn't the most press-friendly coach in football, was nearly ran out of Columbus over a demonstratively false accusation by Tom Friend of ESPN and Maurice Clarett. Bowden, who is known to let reporters chat with him in the locker room while taking a shower, has been given a free pass for the most of his transgressions. Not that I think Bobby Bowden is some evil wretch. He's a good coach competing in high-pressure circumstances who's road a hard line from time to time, even flat-out ignoring it at others.
