I was watching Fox and Friends the other day, and they were discussing what sentence Bernie Madoff should get. A viewer emailed them saying that he should be forced to be the Octomom’s nanny. Great answer.

What do you guys think his punishment should be?

  • Latrine duty – for the duration!

  • America’s first “suicide envoy” – to Iran.

  • Scott M.

A lovely painting,Floyd…Rembrandt did a drawing on the same subject..showed the effects of the son’s debauchery on his face, yet the look on his father’s face was that of love

  • is it really Friday the 13th? Wow… I didn’t even realize that until just now. Good thing I am staying home tonight… drinking… alone. What could possibly go wrong?

  • JimmyC

Good point, June. Did anyone notice that this the second Friday the 13th we’ve had this year, and it’s only March? Eerie.

  • “Did anyone notice that this the second Friday the 13th we’ve had this year, and it’s only March?”

Not only that, but for the first time there were 13 finalists in “American Idol.”

IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD, I TELL YOU!

  • Well if it is the end of the world, I should be drinking something better than a Corona (san the lime-damn) and watching someone other than Simon Pegg.

On second thought… this would be a good way to go.

  • Amen June, spring for the good stuff. We may go get some Shiner and stuffed pizza if we’re not gonna have to live with consequences.

I think cleaning my boys bathroom would be a fitting punishment. I’ve got 7 boys who couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn with a cannon. My grout is yellow, and that’s with me cleaning it every day. He’s got to do it with no gloves or mask though, mom style.

Did anyone watch Beck’s show today on FOX. I was at the Gym and saw the whole thing it was awesome. Absolutely awesome. The man has something there. He had A Green Beret Sergeant on and Marcus Luttrell and a couple of authors and the guy whose life story was the basis for the Persuit of Happyness. It was just awesome. They moved to live streaming and the server went down. Again. I walked away with a lot on my mind because of it. Go check out his new project at http://www.912project.com (I think thats the website). Its just so cool to see people saying enough is enough and getting things said that need to be said. Seeing Marcus always puts me in a good mood.

  • Stephanie

That is not the website….let me do some digging. WIll post it later.

“is it really Friday the 13th?”

Well, I took a crash course in slip and fall school this morning. I slipped on my rain-soaked driveway picking up a newspaper that I don’t subscribe to, and dislocated my shoulder. When I got out of the ER and got to my car in the parking lot, all the cars surrounding mine were clean and spotless while mine was riddled with bird shite. So, yeah, it’s really Friday the 13th.
Wankette here: Matt!!! Yikes! are you okay?!? this is horrible!

  • Matt Helm

Jesus Christ! My comment is number 13, too.

  • Mark Hemingway (at Big Hollywood, courtesy NRO) has just bitch-slapped Jon Stewart.
How I wisht I’d got there first:

  • Matt Helm

I’m okay Wanks. Thanks. They gave me pills, but I told them that I prefer to put booze on my shoulder.

  • Stephanie

Dislocated shoulder…ouch. Thats gotta be the worst thing to do to yourself. Drink the brandy, dump the pain killers. Unless its Delauded in which case that is a hell of a buzz.

  • A word on Floyd’s artist of choice up there…y’know, Rembrandt painted one of my two favorite paintings of all-time: “Polish Rider”.
This is not a joke; the painting’s really called that; I’ll try to find it for you.

  • Oooh, that Hemingway article was indeed tasty, Wanks. Thankee thankee. Off to Big Hollywood, when I probably should be going to bed.

  • Scott M.

    What’s the other,Wankette?www.wga.hu

  • Scott M.

The wga.hu is Web Gallery of Art….very nice collection of paintings,Polish Rider included

  • Stephanie

Wanks, my favorite painting is a Klimt I saw at the Belvedere in Vienna called The Kiss. He used gold leaf on all of his paintings..lovely. Like a dream.
Wankette here: Steph, Why am I not a bit surprised a Klimt is your fave — you ARE a Klimt girl! :)

  • Scott M. — Thanks for the site! will check it out ASAP.

    #2: Delacroix’s portrait of Chopin.

I dunno — I saw both as photo slides in a freshman year art appreciation class, and I’ve never recovered from either.
p.s. Bernini’s “David” is my fave sculpture. Someday, that’s one I *definitely* want to see in person.

  • Scott M.

Wankette-The Polish Rider,I understand,is in New York,at the Frick Museum
[wankette looks around for a cheap ticket to NYC]

  • Scott — Actually, you’ve given me an idea for a Weekend Five. We need a little culture to counter all these boob, fart, & dick jokes that have been flying around here lately.

Scott — wow, FABULOUS site! above is a link to Polish Rider which is indeed at the Frick.
    I get goosebumps, just lookin’,

  • Scott M.

Klimt is good…I like his “Portrait of Mada Primovesi”,Stephanie. As for favorite paintings,I really couldn’t say….off the top of my head,I guess “Las Meninas” by Velasquez and “The Night Watch” by Rembrandt

  • Stephanie

There are so many great paintings from the past. I noticed the link features in a top corner The Girl with the Pearl Earring. Stupid movie, utterly glorious work of art.

  • Scott M.

By Vermeer…look up his “View of Delft”…exquisite.

  • Stephanie

Yes it was Scott. Did you ever see The Girl with the Pearl Earring? Colin Firth as Johannes Vermeer, Scarlett Johansen as the girl. Tom Wilkenson was in it to. It. was. AWFUL!

  • Sorry my tastes in art run in a more domestic path…Fredric Remington,Frank McCarthy, Alan Bean, Keith Ferris and Jim Dietz.

If you want some fun check out Gil Elvgren’s work.

  • Ever the vulgarian, I hear the name Klimt, my mind takes me back to school, so to speak…

Trendy Man: Mr. Melon, your wife was just showing us her Klimt.
Thornton Melon: You too, huh? She’s shown it to everybody.
Trendy Man: Well, she’s very proud of it.
Thornton Melon: I’m proud of mine too. I don’t go waving it around at parties, though.
Trendy Man: It’s an exceptional painting.
    Thornton Melon: Oh, the painting.

  • Scott M.

    Stephanie,I avoid anything with SJ

  • Scott M.

Outlaw…thanks for the Pin Up link…nice stuff

  • Stephanie

Ohh good picks all Outlaw. Love Remington. I also have a thing for wild life art. My Dad collected Federal and State Duck Stamp Prints. David Maas, Owen Gromme, Terry Redlin (not my fav..he has turned a little cartoonish), check out http://www.wildwings.com.

  • Stephanie

Here is a David Maas print that looks like it was painted from an old Duck blind I used to haunt…

Lets just say that day would be as cold and as icky as it looks but man what fun. THey fly like fighters to. Right at you. No cares, just get the north wind up their bums and take off like rockets.

  • edited because I turned this post into a thread. Ta-da!

  • Scott M.

Thank you,Wankette.I had never seen that painting before.A good equestrian painting is a thing of beauty(Titian’s portrait of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles, for instance),as is equestrian sculpture(my favorite is Falconet’s Peter the Great,”The Bronze Horseman”).
