Meh. Kinda. I like how he credits ultra lib Reddit with killing the bill. I imagine no Republicans/conservatives will get any props for it. Even though it was a big deal to defeat in the conservative circles I run in.
At this point I was hoping it would pass just to piss these guys off. I fucking hate them.
Considering GOP whore Lamar Smith from — I am ashamed to say Texas — was a driving force behind this bill…. I hate to say it but Reddit carried a lot of water in spreading the anti-SOPA message around the Interwebs.
The conservatives I knew were against it kinda sorta, but not enough to really do anything about it. I know they aren’t the end-all be-all of conservatives of course, but this wasn’t a huge conservative issue until late in the game. In any case… Paul Ryan and now Eric Cantor did the deed and killed it. Bottom line — Conservatives FTW!

Very sad because it was being named for a marine named Don Hogan who lost his life saving his platoon from an IED. He was awarded the Navy Cross posthumously. Kids dad was wonderful. A really decent honorable man. Really felt for the fame,y. All their were adopted. Seemed really great good people.

The USW is throwing a fit, here, too, with Cooper Tire. I don’t know the specifics, other than Cooper locked the union out when they wouldn’t accept the last company offer. It would be a shame to see Cooper close this plant, or file for bankruptcy. I don’t think they’re close to that, though. They’ve made some good money that last couple of years; but, I think they see some huge costs coming down the road (Obamacare, anybody?), and asking the union to pay “their fair share” seems only reasonable, to me. On a side note, the NFL (yes, the National Football League) has come out in support of the USW at Cooper.

I’m a Dolly Madison man, myself, although my father drove a truck for Hostess for awhile and brought lots of 3 day old stuff home. That was very cool!
There was a bar right next to the truck depot and it was named, The Wonder Inn. (Hostess was distributed by Wonder bread in Chicago) Sometimes dad would get lost leaving the depot (I think the Wonder Inn had a tractor beam) and mom would pack me and sis in the car to go on a reconnaissance mission. There was a very cool little park with rides, “Kiddieland” across the street and my mom would buy sis and I a few tickets for the rides while she went into the Wonder Inn and made her case.
I think my sis and I still think that’s the coolest job dad had! Free twinkies, fruit pies, cup cakes, ho hos and ding dongs and frequent trips to an amusement park!
Lil Debbie has a chemical taste to it that Hostess doesn’t have. I haven’t found any to compare, except Walmart sells a big box of their own chocolate frosted, cream filled cupcakes that are pretty darn close to Hostess in taste.
At one of my previous jobs, long ago, a lady brought me a chocolate cake from her neighborhood bakery for my birthday, and I swear it tasted exactly like a Hostess cupcake. Failed to make a note of what bakery it was, and doubtless it’s long closed by now.
I’ve got some recipes for ding-dongs, twinkies and Hostess-type cupcakes. I should go into business. Lars, maybe you and I could work out a trade? Goodies for books? Or if I ever get up north, goodies for teaching my boys proper sword handling.
